This Ursula von der Leyen is proving to be a wet dream for anti-vaxxer sentiment.

Some countries started to vaccinate a little before Europe, it is true,' she said in an interview with French newspaper Le Monde when asked about Britain.

'But they resorted to emergency, 24-hour marketing authorisation procedures. The commission and the member states agreed not to compromise with the safety and efficacy requirements linked to the authorisation of a vaccine,' she said.

'Time had to be taken to analyse the data, which, even minimised, takes three to four weeks. So, yes, Europe left it later, but it was the right decision. I remind you that a vaccine is the injection of an active biological substance into a healthy body. We are talking about mass vaccination here, it is a gigantic responsibility.'

They won’t let it go, they just keep digging the same hole while trying to undermine the British efforts and decisions as a way of justifying their own incompetence. Not realising the immense damage they are doing to the confidence of the populations. But as long as they can get themselves off the hook then that’s ok......

She did teach epidemiology at university, whereas Johnson just made ambulances out of cardboard. It's hardly undermining confidence in vaccines to say that more time has been spent ensuring they're safe and effective. It might be undermining it in countries that spent less time, but how would it affect attitudes in Europe negatively?

It's really, really bad.

Same with Macron.

It should be roundly condemned but, you know.... euroblind.

Really?

Pretty despicable, that.
The headline writer has literally put words into her mouth. She's saying that the EU took longer to approve the vaccine because they wanted to ensure they were safe to use, and yet you're alleging that taking that time is somehow undermining public trust in their safety.

Do please point out where in that article she says Britain is doing things unsafely.

Her comments have directly caused those headlines across mainstream media across the world.

Her comments are anti vaxxers wet dreams.

Despicable.

Headline writers know how to get people wound up, yes. Just to reiterate though, how does her stating that the EMA took longer to check the safety of the vaccines undermine faith in those vaccines among Europeans? Indeed, given that the vaccines we're getting here have all been approved by the EMA, I'm not sure how they undermine faith in those vaccines here either.
