Okay mate, a figure of speech lets not fall out over that. I will be honest with you. I will never support Corbyn or the party he is a leader of because of his friendship with the leaders of the IRA and shaking there hands. They were the leaders of an organisation that was responsible for the murder of many innocent people and Corbyn referred to them as freedom fighters. That was sickening, wonder how the relatives of the murdered people feel about Corbyn.
There I have said what I feel now you all have a go at me if you wish.

Well said mate.....

Farage had nothing to do with the official "Vote Leave" campaign and he made no such promise.
I know that but all I am saying he pointed out on his individual leave campaign - The official Leave Campaign had the 350 million surplus back in EU funds as completely wrong as the rebates had not been deducted like him or loathe him he is far knowledgeable than any Tory or Labour MPs on the EU he knows the workings of it inside out hence his mission to exit!
PM May should really involve him as an advisor on brexit imo as she can take his advice or leave it but his knowledge has led us out of the EU the other idiots on the out campaign just hijacked his work imo for their political gain!

I see that old Ken Clarke is doing his usual vain self indulgent bit....

“The idea that I’m suddenly going to change my lifelong opinions about the national interest and regard myself as instructed to vote in parliament on the basis of an opinion poll is laughable,” he said.

He seems to regard an official referendum, with 33.5M voters as an opinion poll........the man is a disgrace.....

Say the UK has £300 billion in the coffers to spend. Start with the £10 billion - the top line figure minus the TOR payments minus the rebate = 10 billion. It is sent to Brussels and the UK treasury is down that £10 billion = £290 billion to spend. The EU then gives the UK back £4.5 billion to farmers and the regions etc. and £1.5 billion for universities and research = £6 billion. While the treasury is down £10 billion the UK as a whole is only down £4 billion as £6 billion has been spent in the UK. The cost to the UK of being in the EU is £4 billion.

The moment the UK leaves, if it does, the UK would have £300 billion to spend, £10 billion more than now. But May has said she would honour the EU spending on farmers, the regions and universities etc which is £6 billion until 2020. The treasury now has £294 billion to spend as it sees fit. The cost of the EU to the UK treasury is £4 billion.

Come 2020 any government will have to decide whether it keeps honouring EU pledges or spend it elsewhere.
That is a clear post, hullefc, but there is more to it than the EU giving back money. For universities and research, EU funds from all countries are pooled and it is a giant competition to see how the money is allocated. As we are very good, we out-compete our neighbours to the tune of 150%. This is clearly going to be impossible when we're on our todd, unless the Brexit cabbages are proposing a 150% hike in science funding.

This competitive structure is likely an element in all EU funding.

Wait, are you trying to say that we get more out of the EU than we put in ?

Preposterous

This is the man who did his very best for us to join the EUrO currency saying we would be doomed in trade if we lost out not joining it, and one of the real nasties in thatchers governments front branch he and Norman Fowlerhelped the writer to crate the character of Alan Bstard on itv series!

He is one of those who will never listen to any one else's opinion. He will never admit he got anything wrong. He has more than outlived any usefulness to his party and his constituents and it really is about time he retired.......

I agree. (Genuinely for once!)

There were so many problems with the referendum. HOWEVER, they should have been put right beforehand and not kept hold of until afterwards so that parliament can change its mind.

As is obvious, I didn't want this result, but we have it and we should now leave. If I was an MP then I would vote to leave even against my personal preference.

I do think there is debate to be had about the terms like, maybe a referendum, but 'IN' shouldn't be an option now.
