Yes but the best experts distinguish between when they don't know what possible outcome will occur and when they can say with a much greater degree of certainty what will happen. Likewise they will say if something is certain to happen based upon a set of circumstances.

It can't really be dismissed as 'guessing'.

That is life though isn't it? Much of modern medicine is to all intents and purposes educated guesswork as we're not in a place (yet) where precision medicine is a reality. That doesn't mean we dismiss the opinions of doctors though, as their opinion is the best we have. That's the point. We shouldn't expect things to be perfect in order to find them highly valuable, and certainly shouldn't choose ignorance instead of these educated guesses.

Incidentally, the Met Office were predicting rain all day in London yesterday. As it's currently sunny, I'm not going to believe any of these liars ever again and simply rely on the appearance of my local clouds instead.

It’s particularly beautiful here today, I’m just looking out of the window, past the remaining large sycamore and the weeping willows, towards the sunny uplands on the other side of our small independent valley. Herds of unicorns are jumping and prancing, music has filled the air and news has just arrived that the reported cliff edge on the far side of the valley was actually just an optical illusion, woven into folklore by malcontents and fearmongers whose tears have raised the waters edge within the babbling brook. It seems strange to think that nearly five years has passed by, with almost 75,000 comments on an event that is shortly to pass into history. But life goes on.......

No it isn't. It's still an estimate based on cause and effect.

You are dismissing "educated guesswork" on Brexit because you are dismissing the consequences and hoping for the best.

Another analogy - it's like letting someone - anyone - throw a knife at an apple on your head because it's only guesswork that they could miss. They don't know for sure, so why not give it a go and hope for the best.

The problem with that approach should be obvious. But Brexit supporters like you completely ignore it because if the knife miraculously does hit the apple, you get blue passports back. Hurray.
