The Graun reporting that Lufthansa are airlifting fresh food into the UK to alleviate shortages. Surely a special Christmas thank you is in order from all of us, especially the Leavers (like Francois, who would never let a German tell him what to do) who are still apparently fighting the war?

The lettuce has arrived!
Blimey Brexiteers will have a right head wobble over this, where they park prejudices now, is anyone's guess.

Oh read the rest of thread Goodwin's law to wonky eyed resuce.

FWIW as has been pointed out already in various places, the French border has been open throughout this crisis - even after we put 14 day quarantine on travel from them.

That Macron closed it now, after Johnson announced this closing of London, should tell you how much France was told beforehand. That nearly everyone else has done the same should tell you what the WHO was told - not enough.
London is closed to the movement of people for none essential reasons. They have not closed the city to the movement of goods and produce, which is effectively what Macron has done by closing the ports. As far as I'm aware, this is the first act of it's kind.

I don't blame France or anybody else for closing their borders to British travellers at the moment. But hauliers and their produce have always been exempt from such actions until now. That decision has been made by France, presumably Macron, and the fact you're trying to pin it on Johnson doesn't surprise me in the least.

The last 2 days I have given Macron and France down the banks over closing the Dover route But I have to congratulate France on this great move
Hopefully it will shame the blonde idiot and his cronies into doing this for the people in the NHS and key workers who are in the same situation

Of course it doesn't surprise you - you are after all the person who finds political offence in most posts you don't agree with, even to the extent of inventing it as you have here. I'm just grateful you didn't try to pretend this wasnt on topic again.

I appreciate this is an entirely wasted effort on you - but for everyone else the point was that Johnson did something that he had ruled out two days beforehand and which his government and its allies had said would cause severe economic damage. That he did it in such a short period of time, with so little notice to his own people never mind anyone else, is almost certainly what spooked Macron (and the rest of the countries that have put lesser restrictions on us). That Macron had that reaction kind of suggests he (and they) didn't know that much about this, and acted out of that lack of knowledge.

Ha ha ha. Inventing it? You literally said Macron closed the ports (to all traffic) because Johnson never told him beforehand he was shutting down London to none essential travel. So yes, you are blaming Johnson and No, I never invented it.

By the way,do you think Macron consults with Johnson before making his domestic covid decisions?

What I literally said:

OK.

Let's clear this up because I think we speak completely different languages at times.

Do, or do you not, blame Boris Johnson for Macron taking the decision to close French ports to all traffic from the UK, including produce and freight?. A simple yes or no will suffice. Just so there's no further confusion. ;)

Oh, and you never said whether you think Macron should consult with Johnson on domestic covid matters, or whether you think that should only be a one way thing.

Christ. The point was, always, that Johnson was at fault for not telling Macron (or any other leader) enough about this new form of the virus. I'd have thought this was obvious by the words used.

... and yes, I think the past year would have shown the wisdom of every world leader sharing information about the spread and development of this disease as soon as humanly possible. That way, people don't make decisions like this.

By all means come back with more rubbish though.

No I think we should leave it there.

It was a mistake to have started up the conversation really.
