Indeed, he would have taken a short term financial view, and that was his initial position. But strangely enough, being retired allows you to take a wider view.....

Mate, I am retired.

I used my collective knowledge to make a decision that wasnt based on dislike of folk I dont know. Nor did I believe the tripe that folk I would probably dislike as gospel.

There will be nothing to sell. If he does ‘no deal’ that’s the end of it, nothing to sell or debate. If he does a deal, Parliament can take it or do no deal.......

He will have to explain why a No Deal, that was "off the table and the worst possible outcome that no one wants" as a good thing.

Blaming France wont cut the mustard.

And that’s fine Roy, it’s not a competition, we all have a view and we all want the best for our country and ourselves. Myself and others believe that we will, as a country, grow and improve by being independent and more fleet of foot, you may believe the opposite and that is your choice. But whatever happens it is in all our interests to get the most appropriate deal either done or not......

I honestly don’t think many will complain, obv apart from on here. Those that wanted Brexit probably will be just as happy with no deal, I certainly will be....

My name isnt Roy ffs.

FWIW, I do actually believe you have that view for a long time. And I can get it.

My issue is, and has been, that millions have been sold an absolute pup of a vision based on lies and misguided views on immigration and taking back control. They are the folk who will be impacted most by this folly. Not you nor me, (meds being available notwithstanding)

You can tell by the posters that ‘like’ your comments where you stand in the quality of debate...unfortunately you have drawn the lower end.....

Oh that's fine by me, Peter, I just make up posters from the higher end and pretend they agree with me, thanks for the example, works a treat.

Till the supermarkets are empty, there are still brown people stealing their jobs, and their deliveries are late cos 50% of the drivers are back in the EU.

Apologies I missed off the do.

In terms of being ‘impacted’, the ONS says a no deal may reduce the GDP by 2%. That’s worst case. It’s nothing compared to the opportunities that our newly freed country will be able to go for. As I’ve said earlier today, just look at the nonsense of trying to do a deal with the EU, a body we’ve been part of for 50 years, yet who no longer will accept our standards or even qualifications, but they did yesterday. An EU requiring 27 political leaders to agree on something, but who may veto an agreement because they have an election coming up. Why do you think it takes countries decades to try and do a deal with them. It is a closed shop, a protectionist bloc, that the world will now be looking at wondering how anyone can do business with them. It is a declining market driving ever more bureaucracy, and becoming more irrelevant by the year.....

Playing some ridiculous race card is beneath you.....

Why? It wasnt aimed at you. More some who deffo voted leave on racist grounds.

Folk were told we would have the easiest trade deal in history, that the EU are building an army, that they are desperate to have a deal. They swallowed it, and its all utter bollox.

Hardly any Brexit voters will say that immigration was the main issue. They come up with all this tripe of an ‘Eu army’ or ‘unelected bureaucrats’ That’s until you scratch the surface.
Truth is, that the majority have an deep mistrust of foreign people and have an ingrained colonial superiority complex.
I mean it’s obviously not just specific to the U.K., you see it all over the world. Just kinda thought we were better than that

Can you provide some concrete examples of what these opportunities might be?

I still find it really odd that very few Tory MPs have yet disused, or are pressed, on what they want from the deal. It's all bluster and deflection - absolutely nothing is positive in the UK position. We need to be 'free', we are being 'bullied', we 'are vassals'. Absurd from a country with the most favourable status of any EU member state...

Even in discussion, it's the same.
Fishing is a sticking point - well what do we think is acceptable?

Standards for farming, data, technology - why aren't we discussing how Britain can lead on those as part of an EU agreement?

We are told it would be so easy because we share so much in thinking and belief - yet nobody on the UK side is talking about shared interests; it's not agreements to maintain standards or areas to improve, what common interests are shared between the UK (there is very little shared sense of UK either) and the EU?

The whole thing is about a vague notion of what sovereignty is - because people who have a miserable existence have been given easy answers by people who want to deflect blame from themselves, people who hate foreigners and those who think Empire will return if only we have the right PM and believe hard enough.

Yes, he didn’t like the approach. You have to understand, or maybe not, that developing a good deal for both sides is normally the goal. However, from the very beginning, the EU have a major political angle regarding their Project. This is what he couldn’t get his head around, business is business and they very early on didn’t want a win/win...

the approach taken before negotiations started in earnest?

sorry pete, but the story gets less believable with every utterance of yours
