It's quite grim seeing the number of Tory MPs spreading bare-faced lies about the vaccine only being out now because the UK is leaving the EU.

I agree that they should not be patting themselves on the back, but they are factually correct. If we were still in the EU we would be waiting for the EMA to decide. So there is some truth in it....

No, there isn't Pete. This is from someone who should know:

Dr June Raine, MHRA boss: “We’ve been able to authorise supply of this vaccine under provisions under European law which exist until January 1st.”

Lob in the utter irony that its being made in Belgium, so, for now, can be shipped over free of any new rule or deal or customs and stuff.

Sounds like something from Twitter taken out of context. The MHRA requires no European law to approve a drug. My guess is it will be referring to its transportation but I’m sure you will let me know.....so, why haven’t the EMA used ‘European Law’ to approve its use ?....and I’m not trying to score petty political points, just responding to the factuality or not of your comment regarding the claims by politicians.....

My understanding is that its simply because the EMA haven't got round to it yet. Intransigence rather than regulatory hurdles.
