Who even said anything about 50 years?

We, as in all of humanity, is emitting twice the CO2 it did a few decades ago, and it's a trend that's not slowing down. What does that tell you, for example? Those are things we can reduce and control and are hurting the environment, no? Is it really a massive shock global temperatures dropped by a few (0.2 or 0.3?)C, instead of rising, over the last 4-5 years when every country started having green initiatives? Oh wait no that's coincidence isn't it, those experts prove they know nothing again..............

You miss the point. Yes, we humans are doing things that will effect temperature on our planet. However when temperatures started to drop instead to rising, as we were told, you then say that it is because of green initiatives. So can someone tell me what all of these green initiatives in China, India, Africa, Russia and SouthAmerica are. Or do you believe that it's because some western countries stopped using aerosols and coal burning power stations.......

May I say that I find it completely and utterly ridiculous that there are still people that genuinely believe that global warming is a lie. An overwhelming number of research scientists all state with great confidence that global warming is the reality.

But anyway, what do I know?

It's never really so black or white. Global warning zealots would have everyone believe that they know everything. The point that both Joey and I made was that back in the 60's the fathers of these experts were completely convinced that we were entering a new Ice Age. But now that we have new experts we are to believe Global Warming, when the planet is actually cooling again. While our scientists are improving their knowledge all of the time, I just find it completely ridiculous that today's experts have this absolute belief and arrogance that they are right......

....and to bring it back on topic, it is the same arrogance that led financial experts to declare that Brexit would bring doom and despondency to the UK, when the truth and actuality may be somewhat different......

Most of the grants for wind turbine farms comes from the EU, and solar power, Imcan see not in my life time when these windmills will be taken down they are an eyesore, and noisy, and the amount of electricity they produce is poor!
Let's get out of the EU and look at tidal power, or clean coal fire stations !

Wind power makes up just under 20% of our electricity generation. It's also our cheapest way to make electricity. Why would we want to take them down?

IVE HAD ENOUGH OF 'EXPERTS'

At what cost of being members of the EU?
Osborne stooped the massive grants in the last budget pity thatcher had not backed our coal mines instead of importintinf stuff we have better quality coal than any where in the world or was it just Trade union bashing ?

TIL: not only do you not believe in global warming, you believe, nay, KNOW that Russia, South America, China and India have no green initiatives and are all living in your ridiculous 1950's world.

I sincerely hope you're on a massive wind up.

So because the scientists and experts of the 1960's were wrong, all scientists ever are wrong from now on? Righto mate, good stuff, sound logic, nothing wrong with that. Do you not believe any precautions were taken towards that said cooling, because it was rising in an alarming rate?

Also it rose by something like 5C over 30 years, then cooled down by 0.3C over 5. Great stuff, it's obviously nothing. To put a football analogy here - we're losing 10:0, but we manage to get back one in the last 10 seconds. Obviously, with a score of 10:1, everything is going swimmingly and there's nothing to worry about, as everything is great and dandy.

An eyesore? They're mostly placed 1) in Scotland and 2) in the middle of nowhere. There's the odd one here and there, I suppose that's the 'eyesore' you're talking about?
They get to about 30-40 dB when you're 300-400 meters away from them. 30-40 decibels is about as much noise as a normal household fridge makes. Turbines are never closer than 600-1000 meters away from a household. You do the math for that one, unless you were taught different math in the 1960's.

The one you might place in your garden is inefficient, when put in an actual good place and in a farm - they're solid. Also there's a whole bunch of them out and about the sea/shores (mostly up here), where there is literally no one to bicker about "noise". Before you say something odd - yes, I've been close to one, many times, I've also had to be REALLY up close to one, as I did study engineering, and the only people complaining about the noise are the people that really look for something wrong in everything and everyone.

They also make about 20% of all electricity in the UK, but sure, inefficient, alright. But yeah, you're right, let's scrap wind and go for tidal - a power harnessing technology still in its 'infant' stage, as most devices are prototypes and make barely enough power for a small hamlet, in the UK at least. In 10-15 years? Maybe; now - no chance. And do you think that tidal power is some sort of ninja source that isn't an eyesore itself? Yeah, enjoy this barely noticable piece of technology.

At no cost of being members of the EU. The EU doesn't pay for our wind energy, energy companies do. I'm not opposed to the use of power stations generally, but surely renewable energy such as wind is a good thing? Decrying it on grounds of being an eye sore and noisy is a poor excuse given the return we get from them.

Now you are just being silly. I asked you what China, India etc are doing in respect of green initiatives because I thought you might know, but from your response I can see that you don't, and would prefer to play the man and not the ball.

In respect of scientists, if you believe that we are at the absolute pinnacle of scientific and engineering knowledge and that none of today's beliefs will ever be disproven then you or your children could be in for a disappointment
