I'll reiterate my earlier comment. Hopefully you'll get it this time.

It's nonsense to suggest that somehow it's bigoted to describe the virus as having its origins in China, when as far as we know, it emanated from the city of Wuhan, which is a city located in the country of China.

Of course, I stand to be corrected if it turns out that the virus has its origins somewhere other than China.
When the terms Covid or corona virus are the commonly accepted names worldwide, and will be immediately understood as to what you are talking about, why would you deliberately choose to continue with the terms Chinese flu, Wuhan flu etc? There must be a reason you prefer to use those particular names. I'm curious as to what that reason is

I prefer to call it the CCP Virus. That doesn't offend anyone, other than members of the CCP.

You'll have to run it past me though why it's bigoted to say that the virus had its origins in China, given that as far as we know right now, it had its origins in China. It is no more bigoted than suggesting the origins of Lyme Disease as the US or the origins of Ebola as the Ebola River.

I do hope that nobody is offended by this post and I sincerely apologise if it is offensive.

Must admit, I've just had to google ccp virus, never heard of it before. Why would you not just refer to it as covid or corona?

See. You just called it "the virus". That wasn't so hard, was it ;)

Of course, at work I kiss ass, do the CCP's bidding and call it Covid-19. As much as it pains me to do so, personally, I don't see any harm in disparaging an extremely authoritarian regime, that interns approximately a million of their own people just because they're Muslim, Christian, or Buddhist, or force people to do hard labour just because they've spoken out against them.

In this crazy world however, others find it offensive, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyway, now that we've sorted this out and I've corrected the puerility of some, let's get back to the topic that this thread was created to discuss. Indeed, the most important post made on the previous page was completely missed.

Nice one, Brexiteers.

I didnt find calling it the ccp virus offensive, just confusing as I have never heard it called that before.
In my experience though, if someone wants to talk about it, they usually call it covid or corona, that way everyone knows what they are talking about and the discussion stays on topic. When people start calling it china virus, wuhan flu etc, they are usually trying to make a point. I was just curious what point you were trying to make.

I think after yesterday’s meeting it’s even more clear that we’ll be goosed.

The government have got some batshit crazy ideas to make it look like there’ll be no delay at the ports, in theory it’ll probably look like there isn’t if the plan works. The only issue is the delay will be inland and there’ll be obvious holes in our border security.

"We'll have control of our borders" - yeah, right. o_O

I would rather have spent the extra money with SST and produced a proper Galileo look alike. I’m sure that they will be able to make this system do ‘something’ but I’m surprised that they have gone for a low orbit solution tbh.....This smacks of a civil service fudge. It’ll be interesting to hear what the MoD really think of it.....
