Why would anyone trust the UK?

I doubt that there will be any difference between NI and the RoUK....
We are very reliant on migrant labour and I would hazard a guess that most do not earn £25k. The north of my own county is the second industrial base of the province and I can definitely foresee the main employers starting to look around for alternative sites.

As with Brexit, NI should be treated as a special case.

I think they will set the income level slightly lower, not much mind, so there may be an issue. Unemployment in NI is less than the U.K. average. I doubt companies will move, unless it’s to drive down wages anyway, as there will still be enough people to fill jobs not filled by immigration. But there is nothing to stop the U.K. just changing its own rules as they see fit...

They are already changing their tune on this, see this mornings Andrew Marr show. Basically, it's a loose rule and the salary thing is meaningless. If an industry needs it, they will allow it. So no change, just a bluff to keep the electorate happy. Plenty of jobs out there, just no one from Britain wants to do them.

Our economic inactivity rate is much higher than the U.K. so I wouldn’t be so sure about that.

The ethnic demographics of one of NIs main employers (Moy Park) reflects how important the migrant workforce has been locally to fill posts that were previously difficult to staff.
