40% of Leave voters believed this lie.

That's 7,000,000 voters. Just because the Leave camp was better at telling lies doesn't make the result the right one.

In fairness it did not say that all the money saved would go into the NHS.

Wow - you are equating that with Johnson calling Obama’s intervention down to his “part-Kenyan ancestral dislike of the British empire” and Farages god awful poster and the simple fact that the dialogs they created has helped justify racism to countless idiots across the county... That is just utter nonsense. I'm struggling to see how the leaflet in question could possibly be seen as xenophobic - although I think the point you are making is that it's not xenophobic just that xenophobic's themselves would find it xenophobic?... Come on...

Genuinely flabergasted at that. If you're so confident on what you've voted for surly you can just say 'yes there was a lot of racism in the vote leave leave camp - but that's not why I voted and it's ridiculous'... Not just saying oh vote remain was just as xenophobic (which is quite frankly preposterous).

Go read up the definition(s) of xenophobia. YOU have introduced racism into the discussion, not I. Sorry Anders, disgraceful of you...

Yes, both sides told lies...your side told more convincing, easier to digest lies.

Let's say that poll was off 10%. That would still mean over 5 million voters believed that bus and voted to leave, at least in part, because of it.

Anyway, you are happy with the decision regardless of how it was achieved. Good luck to you and your family.

Cary on believing that in your world. The Remain sides hammered away all the time with the scare tactics, as did the media (cf BBC) who of course are owned by big businesses/business moguls, and in whose interests it is for us to remain in the EU.

So tough merde, baby, your cronies DID NOT convince the ordinary public of their desperate attempts to maintain the status quo for their own personal, greedy, benefit. Get over it!!!

Keep harping on about the bus. Hilarious!!! :p

You realize that I am American, no?

Sorry... What?

I understand the definition of xenophobia - I brought racism in after quoting Johnson (think it was pretty racist what he said no?) - not sure how this in any way is disgraceful?

This: "...you are equating that with Johnson calling Obama’s intervention down to his “part-Kenyan ancestral dislike of the British empire”..."

To put you straight: I DID NO SUCH THING!!!

You explicitly said

Anders,
In all honesty, Anders, lies and xenophobia were used by BOTH SIDES in equal measure I would say.

Then gave this as your example:

Anders,
The nature of the point put forward by the Remain campaign pandered to the xenophobia of the nation. I mentioned Cameron's panphlet in which it is stated that we have a 'special status' within the EU. Aren't we great, aren't we wonderful to have this. Panders to the xenophobic nature of people. See it for what it is

I was genuinely shocked that you would see this as the same as the points I have just raised - was simply trying to make the point that the xenophobic (and/or racist) discourse was from the leave camp (by using two high profile examples). In no way was painting you as racist, unreservedly apologise if that's what you read from that, I was just genuinely surprised to see you contend that this horribleness came from both camps equally. It just didn't. Surely you can see that?

I am looking forward to the USA opening its borders with Mexico, since Obama was so keen for us to have free movement.

Also, I recall the USA went to war with the UK to break free from British rule. EU laws are supreme over all national legislatures and are created by unelected bureaucrats (Commissioners): we had a referendum instead of a war! It's a great feeling to know that our our laws in future will be made by people we elect and can hold to account

Despite the threats of the lame duck Obama that GB would be "at the back of the queue" for trade deals, the US politicians have seen sense and are eager for a trade agreement, along with a dozen other major economies giving GB a potential market many times larger than the the corrupt, bureaucratic, failing EU.

Don't be a Remoaner - the future is bright, embrace it!

I understand that over the pond there, there is a big run on "Brexit" tee shirts??
