What I don't get is that if the UK is as subservient to the EU as the Brexiters make out ("I don't think we live in a free, independent country" says Mark Francois) then why doesn't Tusk just overrule Parliament to pass the Deal they've negotiated with the government?

Surely the fact that Parliament has the authority and clout to stymie the Brexit process by failing to accept a deal that the EU want to happen is a massive strike against one of the main cited reasons to leave?

Because quite simply, we are not. And like pretty every other populist soundbite about how awful the EU is, its hoovered up by folk who like their prejudices proved correct.

It would if Brexiters were honest with themselves.

But they aren’t.........they have to be victims.

When you believe the lies you tell yourself reason goes out the window.

We will take back control of our judicial system.....when all the time our judicial system was powerful enough to stop the prorogation fiasco and showed itself to very independent.

We will take back control of our law making.....then crying foul when the people charged with making those laws show our parliament has absolute control of our law making.

And my own particular favourite....

We will take back control of our borders......extremely hard to do when our only “border” is in a whole nother country and the people who live along it ain’t going to let you “take back control” of it.

Then there the other other lies they willingly choose to believe.......40 trade deals signed the day after Brexit....no more furreners taking our jobs...sunlit uplands etcetera, etcetera.
