Welcome back Wayne
Well, it could be a matter of bad timing with that piece if there's any truth in the Varadkar/Johnson talks progressing well today.
many a slip twixt the cup and the lip......

Never voted Tory in my life I was going to opt out of the GE if Brexit was carried out you keep convincing me to vote Tory......
Big Arlene and her gang of bigots will be fewmin', so they will. The wee pravince sold down the river, so it is.
Well, it'll be a major event in NI politics that'll reshape the scene there.I think they would prefer any deal at the moment rather than have Corbyn selling them down the river and over the waterfall.....

Then again, if Johnson has got them to swallow a customs union then it must have some huge caveats in it.
We'll find out soon.
...the Leave lot might be tempted, but will this fly with the ERG loonies or DUP?If Boris does get a deal it will be interesting to see what Corbyn does and more importantly what some of his own MP’s do.....

No doubt they'll have been sold it (if they have) with some sort of veto on the duration of it.If it's an all Ireland customs union with a border in the Irish Sea, I'd love to see how the DUP squirm their way out of that one.
They'd have to take the U out of their name for starters.

Still a massive shift for them though.
Quite literally. They already only accepted the most recent Johnson *ahem* "deal" with an outright monetary bribe.
But what it'd take for them to ignore their sole reason for existing to back Brexit is a mystery to me at this point.
I'm going to assume it is what I say - an all-Ireland CU with a border in the Irish Sea - but something which the DUP will try to politically spin as not that to save face.
The fact Johnson turfed out his own MPs the other month means the DUP hold no power anymore and they know it, as parliamentary numbers are against them no matter what. So they'll just try and milk what they can from the situation financially.
So we're left with two questions - firstly, how will the DUP/ERG justify a soft Brexit and secondly, whether enough Labour MPs will go against a three line whip to vote for it, because Corbyn has absolutely no choice but to veto any deal at this point, even if he is a closet Brexiteer.
