Do you have a source for that Bruce. I’d like to ram it down the throats of a few Brexiteers I know

About 2/3 down the article

I have just watched a bit of a TV programme fronted by Ed Balls all about the import/export machine in the UK. Mainly cos the footie is crap, and I am vaguely interested in it.

They focused on food. And it was astonishing how a ship with hundreds of containers rammed full of it from everywhere are seemlessly loaded, (by computer) onto hundreds of lorries and then delivered to distribution hubs around the UK.

With the reverse for the exports.

Anyone thinking that messing with this utterly interdependent system, that has developed over years/as technology expands, with no repercussions on food supplies is plain and simple, a fool.

Food imports won’t change at all.

we’ll still receive foods from both Europe (with no additional border checks) and ROW will be imported as per usual. Current EU regulations have been transposed into U.K. and those current regimes will still be in place.

on the technology aspect, Brexit does not affect how goods are containerised. The entire system is automated to reduce delivery time, so if it’s not ordered (from the USA for example) it won’t be loaded onto a vessel

the entire import regime provides an excellent JIT system with the development of new technology. So much so that delivery drivers, at the Port Of Liverpool for example, are given 20 minute slots because the system already knows where the box is on the vessel before it arrives and where it’s end destination is. All the bits in the middle are then calculated to give an exact pickup time

Oh. My bad.

There are dim people, there are stupid people, there are witless people - and there are Geordies :

See how can society be so bankrupt where smiling "Tory bankers" like Farage, Johnson and Rees Mogg can stand alongside these deluded muppets and the latter not have clue they are being taken for a ride? When does the penny drop? Will it ever?

Yeah that's about right. Thick as two short planks.

Embarrassing that these idiots are influencing the direction of this country. Laughing at the generations that follow.

This incident will undermine that special relationship more than anything before, all the warnings of the UK regulating kowtowing to the USA, it's this that will hit home with UK electorate.

It's an appalling decision and the woman (and her husband) should be ashamed. No one has mentioned his status, but I would have thought her running away from the law makes his position completely untenable.
