Only that’s demonstrably untrue.

Literally no one campaigned on a platform suggesting no deal was a desirable outcome - no one.

In fact it was quite the reverse. No deal was portrayed as being part of ‘project fear’, as ‘they need us more than we need them’, ‘easiest deal in human history’, ‘we can have our cake and eat it’, German cars & Prosecco though, and assorted other absolute guff about how the EU would bend their own rules for a leaving member because - Blighty innit.

The official Leave campaign went further, they put in their leaflet that we’d not even trigger A50 until a deal was agreed (which showed their ignorance btw) and we’d leave in an ‘orderly manner’

The idea that 3 years later the ‘sunlit uplands’ that were promised, which have morphed into ‘there will be food’ under no deal, is what people actually voted for in 2016, is absolute nonsense, and holds up to zero scrutiny

The fact that you’re parroting it, merely shows how successfully groomed and gaslit you’ve been.

Personally I'd like to know who the liberal elite in London are supposed to be. In the minds of some Leavers the city is this duplicitous vision of gleaming spires where everyone is either a West End luvvie or part of the evil Remain Westminster machine. In reality, London is a hugely diverse place with some pretty deprived areas, which voted overwhelmingly to remain despite having the greatest exposure to Europe and immigrant workers.

So just to sum up :

Working & middle class families in London who share their streets and schools with dozens of nationalities and ethnicities = shadowy and underhanded elite clinging to EU membership for their own nefarious purposes. Don't trust them.
Stockbrokers/hedgefund managers from rural England who went to private schools and make millions from the collapse of UK companies & currency = patriotic men of the people who only want the best for all of us. Give them your PIN.

Well done Momentum people. You could have gone whole hog and had #ResignTomWatson at the same time. Anything but keep your eyes on the real prize and, you know, actually make a serious attempt to be elected.

... idiots.

Because the cult of Corbyn are upset she won't support a move to make Corbyn PM.

Oh, and they've cottoned on fully that she's a Yellow Tory too. That's not news, she is, but they're acting surprised.

Even a temporary one, just to stop a no deal? I must have missed this today.

If so, it will show her up for what she is

She's said the same since it was proposed months ago. It was a mistake to say it then and it's a millstone round her neck now.

She's just a bit crap overall. If you look at her voting record, she's extremely amoral too.

Yes its disgusting.

I knew that was her stance early on but thought there may be something new popped up as its being talked about today - or maybe it was a reaction to Sturgeon saying today that she would take the risk of Corbyn as temp PM to get the extension.

Swinson is backed into a corner here and we will soon see just how much she wants to stop Boris.

Can save you the wait - she doesn't. She'd go into a coalition with the Tories tomorrow if she could get a second referendum attached to a Brexit deal. That's her only red line - she'd agree to any Tory policy 100% of the time as long as it gave her a position of power.

She's a disgrace to centrist politics and it's a massive shame the Lib Dems put her in as leader, but it was due to shallow pool of talent in her party.

Reading back, it sounds like I'm giving the thumbs up to the Momentum led hashtag nonsense on Twitter tonight - I'm not. Criticism of Jo Swinson is fine, but to do so just because she won't put Dear Leader in power is stupid.

That's utter twaddle.

roydo, why don't remainers just stop, take a breath, forget about insulting leavers and ask themselves one, simple, question. Why are the London liberal elite so keen to stay in the EU? Vested interests by the wealthy, mainly. I find it unbelievable that anyone in the north (particularly Liverpool - not you roydo, but a lot on here) is in favour of remain. The elite in London don't give a toss about anyone outside the M25.
I’m interested to hear what working class folk feel they would be better off out of Europe?
We have had Conservative party in power for the majority of the last century. Where do you think most of the employee rights have come from? Minimum holiday requirements, Maternity leave and pay, protection of contract rights, improved health and safety requirement in the work place, increased rights for agency workers. You would have waited a long time for the tories to bring these changes.
These are precisely the type of rules the likes of Rees-Mogg, Johnson would like to take back control of. The United States have no maternity leave, half the holiday entitlement we have, and no free health care.
