They are trying to reverse the most stupid decision ever. Asking the uneducated people to decide on something they know nothing about.

As for a referendum being the "most democratic action a government can impose on its people", it's not though is it?
Rather a sweeping statement. Surely the emphasis on all parties concerned should be to educate and inform.

There was a lack of clear and accurate information on all parties in the lead up to the referendum and since.

If you believe that people should be empowered to make decisions then you should at least trust them to make informed decisions.

There's a great irony, if you think from your position as an MP, that people aren't smart enough to make decisions in a vote.

Absolute storm in a teacup all this, let's have a general election and let the people decide again, clear choices on how to vote if you want to remain or stay.

The right result I think.

Wow.

Firstly, they're trying to reverse the result of a nation-wide referendum in which tens of millions of people voted. I couldn't care one bit less whether you think it's the 'most stupid decision ever' voted for by 'the uneducated'.

And yeah, referendums are pretty democratic. I'd say one of the purest forms of democracy there is.
Democracy mate......everyone gets what nobody wants......lollollol

Do you genuinely believe that any of the parties actual try to educate and inform the general public of the real issues facing the country? It's all about tell them what they want to hear or what will get the votes. The referendum has been proved to be based on lies, lies and more lies. There was no real education.

I'm not an MP but I do think that in general, people aren't smart enough to make decisions in a vote.

Hence why he said it was ironic as the same people will have voted the MP into their position......

True democracy is a vote by the people that is actually meaningful and binding. The referendum was neither. It was advisory. The government have taken that advice, realised it was very poor advice but tried to enact it anyway. They have generally tried to enact it by following even more poor advice. Not the best strategy really.
