But that is the point isn't it. Your 'few thousand folk in random coastal towns' were once a thriving and massive UK industry that has been destroyed by EU. Once out of EU the industry can be rebuilt. The expertise is there, the market is there and the money to support it is there. Why are you so frightened of such a good thing happening?

And in the spirit of de'tente (if thats the right french word), as a professional pilot, are there any EU/UK issues that could be an issue with a No Deal? I very much hope not, and as I have a passing relationship with the industry, it seems to be a pretty self contained multi national industry that gets on in its own way.

But nevertheless, like I asked our resident expert on fishing, (no response yet), will it be plain sailing, or flying, come 1st Nov?

Unlike your other replies, I will actually believe this one.

Was there earlier today. Bought some nice gold jewellery for the wife. Has or has not the NHS received £1.8 billion that it wasn't expecting. Take your momentum blinkers off for a minute and answer honestly.
It has been given 1.8 billion it wasn't expecting...

But that money is like having your house repossessed and them giving you back an armchair.

No, it hasn't, nor were you at the Souk. You were trying on your new school trousers at Asda.
At least from next week your Mum will make sure you're doing your homework rather than posting from 1955 on her computer.

Well you are making the cosmic leap that a UK Government will lob ££££ into what is pretty much not more than a cottage industry. Please forgive my naivety that that wont happen.

Please don't forgive my absolute conviction that it will.

And there, in a fairly small example is the crux of the debate.

Leavers have confidence in ourselves as individuals and UK as a country to survive and thrive in the world.

Whereas the Remain camp see being part of the EU as some sort of comfort blanket, despite the fact that EU has destroyed and continues to destroy many aspects of UK industries.

There will be the usual jockeying for position in the aviation sector between various political establishments using the professional organisations as bargaining chips but I can't see any major issues. UK CAA should recognise all Non UK EASA licence holders currently employed in UK and I have licences from Ireland, Singapore and UAE so I will be fine too - not that I need another licence as I am not far off retirement.

I am nor saying there won't be a few bumps in the road (or air pockets in the sky) but those that are predicting total breakdown of services really need to give their heads a wobble.

Well that is where you are wrong I am afraid. I dont like the EU much. Its really irritating at times.

But I do value freedom of movement, free trade, and cooperation on stuff like research, the eco stuff, crime, and intel.

What, or rather who, I dont like nor trust, is the like of Boris Johnson, (in it for me), Rees Mogg, Nigel Fargarge and random right wing racists who have fed you tripe, for their own ends, and you have swallowed it.

The UK I love was on display in London in 2012. The UK you want is in 1973.

Cool. Kinda what my brother in law said. Maybe hassle in the airports for passengers short term, but the actual flying will be pretty much sound.

A warning was issued today that online shopping is going to get much more expensive for anyone in Ireland (and other EU states) buying goods from the UK due to extra import tariffs and increased VAT.

There will also be less consumer rights protection on such goods. This is really going to help the UK exports market isn't it.

Better cross your fingers and hope your stuff turns up and you don't wish to return it then.

This new utopian wonderland is just 2 months away. Can't wait.

Not quite.

I would like to see one rule for immigration applied globally and for UK not to be forced into admitting non UK citizens just because they have an EU passport. I am not against immigration and I am very pro Europe, but I am very anti EU.

Cooperation doesn't have to stop between countries just because one is a member of EU and one isn't. We already have cooperation within NATO, UN etc. The world doesn't stop at the EU external borders and I think that is the message that needs to be put across better by Leavers.

We are not (with a few sad exceptions) racist, xenophobic, isolationist, or empire builders. We value cooperation in areas of mutual interest - we just like to maintain (or recover in the case of brexit) our independence while we do it.

In my particular case, I am a Brit, with an Irish licence, Irish ancestry (county Cork) a Malaysian wife and daughter and I converted to Islam purely to marry the woman I love. I lived 9 years in Brunei, 8 years in Singapore and 7 years (and counting) in Dubai so I really don't think I would have survived those years if I was any of the things that most remainers seem to think we are.

As the saying goes, it's good to talk, but there are some idiots on both sides of the debate that just seem to want to fight rather than have a polite intelligent debate.

Sad, but not surprising in today's world.
