How was the British economy doing in the 1970s, I forget.
When we joined the Common Market in 1975 the sterling exchange rate against the dollar was 2.2109 (1 July 1975). After 44 years in the EU it is now 1.2503. A drop of 43%. Just saying.
When I visited the states in 2005 it was about $2 to the pound. Pretty certain we were in the eu then. Not sure where you’re going with this.

How was the British economy doing in the 1970s, I forget.
We were known as "the sick man of Europe". Inflation was 25%+ per annum, we were losing countless days in strikes, and we had to go to the IMF for a massive loan to keep going.

Funny how the brexiteers always say that we're "the fifth biggest economy in the world" as if that's a reason to leave the EU.

Nor me, that’s why I wanted everything prepared for us to leave. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine May and our Civil Service to make a complete arse of it as they have. I have no doubt that our companies and businesses will be ready, as indeed they prepared to leave at the end of March anyway, but our political class and the morons overseeing this have screwed up. But maybe that’s been their plan all along......

They've made an arse of it in your view because the whole idea of a good Brexit is impossible. You seem to think the EU would rip up their own rules to suit a member heading for the exit. The sheer arrogance is staggering.

Bruce, has it occurred to you that both both Boris and Fox were sidelined and that May and her Chancellor took over....

Rubbish! The opportunity then was for Boris or Fox to say "No. May's deal is flawed for X reason. What we should so is Y and Z and I'm resigning to campaign for a change of course" but no nothing. Even no Boris has no real plan

Pete when Boris did his Kipper speech at the last Tory hustings.....did that inspire you? Or did it make you cringe on account of being wrong on every possible level? Not to mention embarrassing and humiliating for both him and the UK....

I’ll be honest, I didn’t see it.....I’m not doing a Wenger, I really didn’t see it and haven’t since,,,,

It's okay though because when he's PM, he'll have a different set of advisers and stuff than he does now when he makes mistake after mistake, and his visionary leadership will see us right. Or something.

The press has been setting this up to blame the civil service if it all goes wrong, so suspect those on the Boris train will point the finger elsewhere when he continues with these blunders.

That’s easy to sort out.

Then here is Full Fact, doing the fact checking on his claims.

Thank you. It also confirms one of my concerns that for too long U.K. governments and our Civil Service have been using the EU as an excuse for the introduction of such nonsense, or erroneously passing on the blame. Once we are out we will have a very clear picture of who to point our fingers at and who to hold accountable......
