I know you're big on crime @peteblue

“It's fairly obvious that Brexit has been a major influence.” Said Mr Jones. Even though it was happening before Brexit and there is no information regarding the reporting of other crime. “It’s fairly obvious that the method of crime reporting has been a major influence” said Mr Peteblue.

Come on Bruce, you wouldn’t accept this BBC report and a quote from some guy of unknown political persuasion telling us it’s fairly obvious in your normal professional life would you ?......

Imagine a world where whether or not you should believe someone rests on their political persuasion rather than objective facts.

... and you have the nerve to call other people Marxists.

As universities minister it was always a no brainer for him to vote to remain. There is absolutely no indication that Brexiters give a stuff about industry or academia however. None at all, and his suggestion that Brexit is a thinking person's sport is frankly laughable. Where has he been the last three years?
He has been doing the Tory thing of jostling for power, ready to stab passing traffic in the back. But by the standards of most of the current contenders, less of a menace and less of a loon.

I thought his quote was about right though. Where is Boris's plan B, for example?

For goodness sake Pete, do read the whole (well-balanced) article.

So Boris is now putting Mays deal back the table, even another referendum according to the evening standard who now in the empty vessel that is Boris Johnson camp. This is beautiful time not to be a Tory...

https://www.standard.co.uk/comment/...s-the-pm-to-turn-britain-around-a4171816.html :

"...again today says he wants “to get Brexit done by October 31”.
But he is careful not to “guarantee” that date — Mr Johnson may be loose with words when it comes to the fates of others but never when it comes to his own."
...
"Instead, ask yourself which of these potential Prime Ministers is most likely to persuade the Conservative Party to vote for a repacked version of the existing deal? The one with the greatest credibility with hard Brexiteers.
Indeed, which of these possible leaders could you imagine making the even bigger leap and asking the country again for its views?
The candidate who first came up with the idea of two referendums back in early 2016. Of course, he denies all this — and, like the other candidates, promises to get a renegotiated withdrawal agreement out of the EU.
Perhaps he will. Most likely he will not. But one thing is for sure, having finally arrived in Downing Street, Mr Johnson won’t be in a hurry to leave it. Opportunism knocks."
A party with an average age of 72, with the last recorded membership being 124,000 in 2018 has the future of the country in the palm of its hands.

That bit is 100% true Pete, the migrants themselves said they have seen a sharp increase during and after the referendum. I would like to think they are the best people to say how it is.

Looking from the outside it is easy to see how, the EDL and other right wing nationalist groups were given a platform to spread their vicious bile about the problems of this country being related to foreigners. It has legitimised hate language what was thought of as inappropriate before we went down this path. The usual types at these rallies are quite thuggish in nature and have been revved up to take things into their own hands.

Can anyone tell me how these increases occurred before anyone had even coined the phrase ‘Brexit’. I wonder what is behind the increase, have we suddenly become a really bad people.....

I may have misheard the Dutch PM just now, probably did, but I could have sworn I heard him mention negotiations before the end of October.....did the mask slip.....

So it’s not ‘Brexit’ then, it because of cuts required due having to reduce the burden left by the previous Labour government.....thanks for clearing that up.......

Haha I see what you have done there.

It is all part and parcel. The banking crash, the austerity measures, the feeling of hopelessness, struggle of being able to buy and afford your own home, the greed of the bankers and fat cats, the lurch to opposing political divisions, the rise of the nationalists, the divisive nature of Brexit, the lying politicians, never ending elections, the feeling of not being listened to whether leaver or remain.

This is how wars start.

Had a chat with a lad who studies law and has a family who runs a farm. It was quite the eye opener to be honest. OTT EU regulations and subsidies going to the wrong people made it sound like a nightmare.

It certainly opened my eyes a bit.

I don't think it's just the greed of 'the bankers and fat cats' it goes beyond that, unfortunately.
