Are we taking into account the money spent by the leave.EU campaign here? Don't forget there were a few leave campaigns running at the same time
According to the Electoral Commission the Campaign Spending was £19m to £13m in favour of 'Remain' groups, where spending was over £10000. Of course it doesn't account for spending under £10000

I read somwhere that Leave.EU received some £24million in donations yet were limited in their election spending to £700K as they were not the official leave campaigner. What happened to the rest of that money?

Yes I'm sure he will. @Barnfred 55 can you clarify if government spending counted towards the referendum campaigns please?

Joey.

Government spending on the 2016 EU referendum was completely exempt from the budget restrictions laid down by the Electoral Commission. That is a fact.

However, I believe that when the electoral commission laid down those rules they fully expected the Government to stay impartial/neutral throughout the campaign that followed. Clearly they didn't and came out 100% behind the Remain campaign. In that respect, in my opinion, it stopped being a level playing field.

Having said that, you are still correct Joey in that the Remain side outspent the Leave side by around £5m without even including the £9m that The Govt spent on it's advisory leaflet, so I really don't understand why we're going on about it.
