In Ireland the Lisbon treaty was rejected first time around, the government re did the vote 'cause we got it wrong.....honest that happened.

This whole business shows the latent fascism just under the surface of left wing "progressives". Demanding a second referendum and calling for an end to universal suffrage because some people are too old or not educated enough to be trusted with a vote wouldn't look out of place in 1930's Germany.
It happened because they have a small economy, and the EU bullied them by starving them of EU grants we bailed them out to the tune of 6 billion a few years ago because the EU is so democratic look how they treated Greece
If we reverse this result UKIP will become the 2 Nd largest party in time as Labour is falling apart, let's see what happens TBH I was shocked by the out vote winning!

What it underlines for me, if nothing else, is the appalling way in which elections are carried out in the UK. In any other walk of life people would be protected from entering into something under false pretenses, yet politicians seem to brag about doing this to the electorate. Lets have some campaigning that is facts and evidence based.
