Happy that a completely unelected House of Lord's are filibustering the working of the elected House of Commons.

You don't want democracy, you just want your own way.

Don’t worry they will be enemies of the "people" (Brexit) by the end of play. Not so long ago Brexit wanted rid of the Lords too.

Even May took the unusual step of sitting in on Lords Brexit sessions in the early days.

It is noticeable the febrile atmosphere has somewhat eased since Corbyn and co are in on the talks, the grownups you see.

Must be the experience of those other much berated talks he has had in the past.

Newtport West, “Brexit by election”. Normally turn out is in the mid 40 thousand yesterday mustered 23000+. Labour hold.

But where has Brexit gone?

Democrocy does not wait!

37% turnout compared with 67% in the GE all parties down on their share of the vote except UKIP which had a rise in its share, think everybody is fed up to politics at the moment

Indeed, no more so than Brexit, there is no mass anger, Brexit is dying and probably literally. Democracy does not care for boredom or apathy.

Tory + UKIP walking dead vote.

2017 - 41.8%
2019 - 39.9%

I suppose it's ironic in a way that an act that was in many ways designed to restore some pride to the country has instead made us a laughing stock of the world. Sadly, in the face of this evidence, Brexiters only recourse is to double down on what can only be described as a miserably failing strategy.

'the unelected EU presidents set the laws for all of Europe, and the elected NEPs then have to vote on those laws - the two parliaments alone maintenance cost 100 million!
It would be like our unelected House of Lords doing the same thing totally immoral IMO !'

I wonder who said that @Joey66

Maybe the same person that is now delighted the Lord's are filibustering the democratic process.

I think the issue that you keep missing is that we can change our government, our government can change the Lords, either by making it an elected body or by appointing Lords. It is for the U.K. to decide. The U.K. cannot affect either the makeup of the EU parliament nor its officials......

I would feel slightly more optimistic, incidentally, if the taking back of control that Brexiters so cherish would involve the Tories being kicked into oblivion for the unholy mess they've foisted on the country in the past five years, but I don't think that will happen at all. What a maddening state of affairs when such incompetence is seemingly rewarded.

We can change our government      Good one Pete. That's like your financial adviser saying you could win the lottery as a sound investment strategy.

We are not leaving the EU. Mays deal tied us in and any deal with Corbyn will tie us in further. We are not leaving, so be happy, we have overridden democracy and become more European as a result..........
