I worked on Castner Kelner and at the place in Cheshire that extracted and cleaned up the rock salt doing plant clean downs,only on one of the sites was full protective gear worn

It was over 30 years ago when I worked there, but even then you had to wear pretty much full protective gear. The job I had was primarily QC, so part of it was going around the site collecting samples for analysis which meant you were almost always at some risk, particularly as the vinyl chloride is carcinogenic.. It's a real coincidence that you worked there, though. Just shows the ways people's lives cross but mostly we have no idea that they do.
