They are not similar. They are totally different chemicals and have totally different properties. One of them is hazardous and one isn't. One of them is very reactive, the other isn't. One of them is toxic to aquatic life and one isn't. One of them you could put on your chips, the other you wouldn't. Just because their names look similar does not mean that they are. I would not argue with you on anything relating to horticulture, because I know very little about it. You don't know much about chemistry, but you argue as if you do.
The chemical formulas are more a less the same try putting household salt on your lawn and see how it kills the grass...
yet you can sprinkle it on your chips.....

I'm not trying to find common ground with you.

Your entire premise for EU overarching regulation is that they banned Sodium Chlorate 'Salt' from use as a pesticide, when you were a senior manager in the Horticultural industry with COSHH.

I've explained to you that you are completely wrong to say that Sodium Chloride and Sodium Chlorate are two entirely different things. One is banned by the EU and would be subject to COSHH, the other is Salt. The EU has banned Sodium Chlorate but not Sodium Chloride.

They are two completely different substances, one which is organic and the other inorganic.

If you think the EU have banned salt, either as a pesticide or in any other scenario then I genuinely don't think you should been given any sort of COSHH qualification or had any responsibility in managing the health and safety of people you worked with.

Here's an acid test for you: next time you think your soup needs a bit if seasoning, pop some Sodium Chlorate on there and see how you do*

*Genuinely feel I have to do this, but don't actually do that, it might kill you!
Or put some household salt on your lawn and see how it kills the grass.... same scenario.....
one sentence needed - where you post war, and peace as usual...... also google being used.....

You remind me a bit of the EE Cumming poem 'Told Him'

Yes I did use Google to post the link because it is quicker than getting my copy and taking a picture of it.

ditto - I was waiting for you lol:D;)
Does salt really kill weeds?
Yes, it works and works well.

When used properly, salt can and will kill your weeds.

Do I need special garden salt?
It may sound silly but we get asked this an awful lot.

No, any salt will do, even regular old table salt.
YET THE EU BANNED THE WEEDKILLER FORM USED SINCE ADAM............

why are you so passionate about Brexit if your American or living there ??
Lived in Liverpool as a kid. Now split my time between Co. Louth in the RoI and Boston.
Less and less time in Ireland but still own a place there and don't want to see a return to a hard border (which is 20 miles away)
what about you, what's your politics?
