The planning cycle isn’t the issue. It looks like the decision to embark upon this course is very recent. The EU-Japan trade agreement came into force on 1st February 2019.......

Are we to believe that Honda had no clue what that deal would entail? It seems hard to imagine something that would warrant such a decision would have been unknown to Honda in September but known to them now.

He might..... but Frank Whittle still invented it.......

Typical of your lot.........Stop doing down our Country!!!!!!!............

Edit: now with added dots.

No he didn't. Research was parallel, and Germany was ahead to the extent that they did the first powered jet flight, and German jet fighters were in action in the last 12 months of the war - the Meteor saw no combat action in WW2...........................................

Enough dots there??????????????????????????????????????????

;) :bye: :)

If world war 3 broke out you would blame Brexit........
If it broke out because of Brexit, you'd say it was a direct result of a decline in Diesel cars*

*See we can all talk rubbish and make things up.

I'd base my opinion on facts and circumstances, like any sensible person should.

In other news today...I see Karl Lagerfeld has died. Brexit claims another victim o_O

It would have been really easy for Honda to blame Brexit, but they know that isn’t the case. First and foremost is the EU-Japan free trade deal, and as now has been clearly communicated by Honda, the electrification of cars. The motor industry in general is taking a massive hit regarding diesels, due mostly to the effect of the Germans falsifying the emissions tests, and companies have decided to pull forward electric drive, hence the shake up. If we suddenly decided to stay in the EU it would not make a blind bit of difference to this decision......

I get what you are saying but people are still buying cars, whether or not they are diesel. This isn't a specific diesel engine plant so that can't be the out and out reason. The UK should have been pushing to keep hold of Honda and get them to invest in the future technology so electric cars are built here but they couldn't promise anything because at the moment we can't tell what that will look like as we are in total paralysis over (guess what?), yes Brexit.

Typical of your lot this.... trying to do....down British achievement.....you couldn't wait to do down this Countries achievements in favour of Merkels darlings in the EU.

Proof, from a reputable and trustworthy source. Frank invented it and now your lot are revising history.... typical

Do not twist my post - remainers are blaming Brexit for the sad closure of Hoda in two years time - it has nothing to do with Brexit -
your thoughts please....... without trying to be a clever bleep in which you are not.......
