The problem with Labour's position is that it isn't really Brexit - it's replacing EU membership with something all but identical. Freedom of movement persists for example.
It's a plan Remainers could get on board with but it doesn't square the circle with the Brexiteer loons.
And it doesn't give a reason why it's better than just remaining in the EU.
That said, at least it's a plan - the Tories don't have even that.
Don't think it has to, to win the country's support to be honest.
The majority of people who voted to leave are not Brexit zealots (as much as watching question time or reading this thread may make us think). They saw an opportunity to try and effect change and took it (and who can blame them). For those hard Brexit loons though, this whole thing has become about faith rather than knowledge.
There are a percentage of them, but like in the commons nowhere near enough to actually win a majority.
If a plan was put forward that didn't tank the economy and technically honoured the referendum vote (although perhaps not in spirit) it would fly though.
Of course those same said Brexit loons would go mad, and Tommy Robinsons brigade would have something else to shout about, but frankly I'm fed up with having the country held over a barrel by idiots and the hard right.
