https://www.britishchambers.org.uk/...n-firms-from-recruitment-prices-and-cash-flow

A new report by the British Chambers of Commerce stated that recruitment difficulties in manufacturing are at their joint highest on record, with 81% of manufacturers reporting challenges in finding the right staff. The service industry is not far behind. At the same time, industries such as agriculture were reporting mild to severe labour shortages even before the EU referendum, an issue that appears unlikely to be dealt with in a meaningful way any time soon.

They just need more people willing to get grot under their finger nails ffs.

I’ve just read @BigBlueNose posts in another thread and was struck by the use of ellipsis

Obviously BBN is a Brexiteer and we know joey loves them

Then looking I saw pete liberally (no offence ) enjoyed their use

And whilst looking could see that Holliday who seems to be not a huge fan of a federated Europe was also unboard with them.

Old blue 2 doesn’t seem shy in their use

So genuinely is there some kind of link between the use of ellipsis and Brexit because I don’t see that many on this board but those that are used seem to be big Brexit supporters , am I falling into confirmation bias or is something going on here ?

I’m also disappointed that it seems I’m not the first one to notice this

underrated post this.

Old Blue 2 knows how to use them...

I use them as pregnant pauses. Where a comma or somesuch presents steady rhythmic punctuation, using ellipsis invites the reader to halt reading and think for a second...

...I never use them to hide words or suggest hidden meanings.

No idea what the technically-correct usage is supposed to be, neither do I care. English is flexible like that.
