Oh my. If only leavers were in charge, 'then' we'd have the Brexit fantasy we all dream of. The leave supporting Brexit Secretary, Foreign Secretary and Trade Secretary obviously don't count as they were undermined by the rest of them. And obviously all the utterances about Brexit from ministers scrabbling to appear more swivel eyed to their constituents is a charade. Heck, even when May said "the country voted to leave the European Union, and it is the duty of the Government and of Parliament to make sure we do just that," we all know that whilst her plan is technically delivering on that, she's failing miserably to read the subtle nuance that everyone put into their cross in the 'leave' box. I mean how can she not know what kind of leaving we actually wanted?

I know he's French, so we can probably discount him right away, but I'm inclined to think that if de Maistre was right when he said that in a democracy we kinda get the government it deserves, maybe all those that voted for this mess should take a look in the mirror.

It wasn't just leave voters that voted in the general election Bruce so how are we to blame for the makeup of parliament.
I could counter its remainers in parliament who don't reflect their constituencies wishes , that has made brexit unworkable due to there stance on wanting to stay in at any cost , that has weakened the the government's bargaining position throughout the process leaving us in the mess we are currently in , it works both ways

Indeed. May's deal is the hokey pokey of Brexit.

I wouldn't care if it's full on remain with the adoption of the euro as our currency as well as opening the borders to the entirety of the third world that the EU elites so desperately want - just give us a definitive position ffs
I have already posted that despite wanting to leave if it was a choice between Mays deal or remain I would vote remain rather than what's on offer.
Would welcome some leadership courage either way, just say if that's all you are giving us as a deal ,well we are not signing it so its goodbye or sod it we will just stay in because that's what we really believe is best .
other option stay in, cause as much trouble as we can till they bin us or reform into something that leave voters can get behind.

I've always felt that it's better to be inside the tent pissing out. Unlike your typical Guardian reading NPC I will never be of the position that the EU is perfect but at least the rise of the sensible in places like Poland, Hungary, Italy and Germany and the fall in popularity of dullards like Macron gives me hope that the EU will be reformed in a way that makes sense to us commoners.

On what grounds can we realistically claim that our negotiating position is in any way weakened by what backbench MPs do or think?

If the Tories don't vote her out tonight, they're handing Corbyn the keys to Number 10 within the next 6 months max.

Corbyn is in no matter what happens unless something spectacular comes to light.

I've no longer any dog left in the fight beyond what's best for my family back home in the UK and unlike the majority of those who vote Labour as if they're supporting their favourite football team I do consider what's on offer and I am of the opinion that at present the bad of the Tories outweighs the bad of Labour.

Not necessarily - because of Corbyn's incompetence and lack of widespread appeal, amazingly the Tories are still competing in the polls instead of being wiped out, as they would be by a competent opposition. With a new leader, they'd wipe the slate clean and a lot of Tory voters will get back behind them.

If they keep May and can't do anything about her for the next 12 months, I think Labour will launch a no confidence motion of their own in January and force a General Election. If May contests that election, Labour will win by a landslide.

True enough. I also wonder just how much of the arrogance shown by the Tories at the last election contributed to Corbyn's upsurge.

But I'm just drunk at this moment in time and I'm just drunk posting so not thinking straight.
