Not really. Poland could leave (if it wanted) because they don't have a politically sensitive border with a member state bound up in their membership. We do. People mentioned Ireland very early on but were dismissed as project fear.

Indeed.

But for the issues left unresolved in Ireland a century ago Great Britain could have quite easily left the EU.

He is only interested as a land owner farmer claiming his EU subsidies 900,000in handouts from the EU does he declare an interest- NO......
Like all the rich- snouts in the EU trough.......

Maybe try and answer his points rather than attack the man. As people have commented on this thread literally hundreds of times, there have been many things published by erstwhile institutions predicting that Brexit will be bad. There have been practically no things published from erstwhile institutions predicting that Brexit will be in any way good. Heck, there hasn't even been anything really from non-erstwhile institutions who back this thing. In this thread, you yourself have offered nothing in the way of insight into how this will help the average man and woman in Britain, with the best you can offer being vague platitudes like trading with the world and taking back control. These things mean nothing. You've taken umbrage about people questioning the thought processes of those who voted for this Joe, but surely you must accept that those who are backing this have messed up big time. Game needs to be upped in an enormous way.

There's been nothing but soundbites all through the process that's why it's such a mess. You cannot say it's just a 'brexiteer' issue.

I think there is a degree of truth in that but when asked how you solve a very real problem like the Irish border a reply like “just a trade deal” is simply a soundbite and I’m sorry it’s meaningless just like “taking back control “ or “just get on with it “.

I’m not arguing that there aren’t very real and genuine reasons for voting leave but I find replies like that , which this not just this thread but the real world are littered with , incredibly frustrating and equally meaningless.

If you look in the media then you'll only ever find soundbites as the very medium only really affords the briefest of exploration of the topic. There have been numerous much longer examinations of the various issues surrounding Brexit however, and the vast majority (that I'm aware of, and I appreciate my scope may be limited) of these much deeper explorations of the issues seem to conclude that leaving will harm this country. In that there seems an enormous imbalance that is only 'explained' by the retort that we don't need experts anyway so those dissenting voices can be brushed aside.

I listened to JRM lbc be questioned about express deliveries outside the single market by a courier who deals in Europe and JRM used Switzerland as an example of how it’ll work . bloke , who’d clearly used that border challenged him it was fascinating to watch it develop .

So many high ranking Brexiteers simply won’t go on to be interviewed by anybody that’ll ask them questions , as I say they deal in soundbite and ideal. I’ve heard farage pulled up by a vet , over how we haven’t got enough vets to certify animals for export , people with knowledge destroy them pretty quickly and it should by out there 24/7.

The thing that worries me is that we have a society at the moment where the above doesn't seem to matter, so entrenched are opinions.

I’ve said that more that once it doesn’t matter it’s a religious fervour, they simply believe and it doesn’t matter . So people who declare as lifelong socialists actively promote farage , Johnson , JRM and hold them up as speaking truth whilst saying they’d vote for le pen if it meant Brexit and we should get trump to do the deal . To many , not all obviously , it’s Brexit above absolutely everything else and whatever is held up to Challenge it is self interest or wrong .

It’s a mentality I can’t get my head round to be honest but there you go .
