They are saying you can have a noway option with single market access (no border in Ireland), a Canada option (border in Ireland), leave with no arrangement (terrible for them, worse for us) or just carry on regardless.
It’s really quite straightforward. To be fair to them they haven’t changed on this at all. It’s idiots like Johnson, who have convinced the electorate that there is some other magical option which doesn’t exist.

I think that is because staying in is effectively the status quo so we can call off leaving. Because of treaty agreements we cant just leave.
If we were out side making an application to join that could be called off unilaterally too.

They're not saying that at all. We can leave right now, but we'd be leaving without anything to replace the many things that we already have in place, and it would be a disaster. You know that surely?

They will leave with no deal, that's the way its heading. It will lead to the break up of the UK as there will be another independence referendum in Scotland and an Irish unification referendum in NI in the coming years.
But despite the cost, Johnson and JRM, etc., will have achieved their lifelong ambition of taking the UK out of the EU notwithstanding the cost in both economic and political terms, so they won't give a monkeys. It's like turkeys voting for Christmas except they get to keep most of their bodies only losing their legs and wings.
Either their lack of foresight is astonishing or they have factored all this in and think it's a price worth paying. They are not daft so it is probably the latter.
