That's my take on it as well. Playing politics to save her own neck instead of considering the best for the country.

I must be thick then. Trying to defend and get support for a deal that is wildly seen as a non starter is hardly saving her own skin.

Not saying she is great, just that she isnt cowardly. Daft maybe.

Not thick mate but I don't think you're seeing the bigger picture and taking what she's saying on face value instead of looking at her actions.

Listening to it. Leaving behind the ifs and buts of the deal, I think she shows some stones if I am honest.
My take on the matter is that she is quite the opposite.

Stones would mean she walks away and admits it's an impossible situation. I've never seen a prime minister go through so many different things and keep going. Just that refusal to quit, even after the paid for back up let her down today.

Conspiracy theory time.

What if, may is purposely there to be the figure of hate? She was placed into power (remember she never actually won the leadership by votes) because the Tories knew it was an impossible situation that Cameron left them in.

Boris campaigning for leave was simply to be the stooge, who could ever vote for leave with racist Nigel and have I got news for you Boris leading the vote?

May was the one person in the Tories who they could put there to take all this flack and to get nowhere and not damage anyone in the party who would be credible? Literally have her be the one who ends up in this position, albiet without the contempt vote.

Personally think none of the high profile mps want to push this through and put their name to it. Be surprised if brexit happens.
May herself wanted to remain but didn’t put herself at the forefront of any campaign so she had room to manoeuvre afterwards. Think she’s an abysmal leader to be honest and has been terribly advised

May has had the sheer arrogance to use the so called will of the people in order to justify her own vision of Brexit and future relationship with the E.U.

I am sick to death of hearing her say that the people voted for this and were doing our best to deliver it.

Fact is no one (leaver or remainer) voted for her deal. She simply saw it as her opportunity to leave her mark on UK politics.

She failed as a Home Secretary and has now failed as PM.

Someone call her a delta.

Oh well that's sound then. I'm glad to know how that vermin voted after all this. Just knowing that he voted remain makes his decision to call the referendum purely for short sighted political gains a good decision now!

What utter scum that shameless POS is!

The problem with that is May would be overthrown straightaway after saying that. She has to deliver for the party and didn't want the disaster of a no deal, therefore she comes up with a mishmash and at least she can say on her watch they come up with something.

The idea I believe in all this is to push parliament to reject anything, leading to calls for a referendum or election. Once this happens she can then say it was other parties that stopped brexit and the will of the people. This let's her walk away with about as much reputation as someone who has been an astonishingly bad PM can do. It also gives the Tories a platform to campaign on (probably with a new leader).

May could turn around and say I reject all forms of brexit but she will be run out of town with her tail between her legs and her reputation in tatters. Rock and a hard place springs to mind.

This really. She could have negotiated a decent Brexit deal, she allowed her civil servants to screw-it up. She and a few from the Civil Service should be spending more time with their families.......
