It's not our rule maker. That's silly.

No not silly just the way of the world when dealing with a bigger stronger entity. America will want certain concessions in our markets before we can enter a trade deal with them that will require certain changes in law and regulations to allow it. EU is no different China is no different, India wants freedom of movement of its people's into the UK for free trade deal, not that it's problem for me just an example of what controls we will secede for trade. Many of our regulations that are law are made by the EU, we don't need so many MPs while in the EU or with Mays deal.

So expected that literally no one predicted it. You'd think people would have become stonking rich as a result of knowing the global economy was going to tank as never seen in a century.
It's well documented that it was known as a very risky bubble that was obviously going to fail at some point in the near future, but the roi was too high to ignore for some who persisted without hedging sufficiently.

It's not just about heritage though is it? What if Mrs Farage wants to move back to Germany? Can she not take her kids with her? With a pre-brexit British passport, this would not have been an issue. Now of course, it is. It's simply practical to do so and many other families with mixed nationalities will be doing exactly the same.

She probably couldn't have done that either way.

It's impossible to take underage kids to another country without the (explicit) consent of their father (if he has has parental responsibility - I take it Farage still has that). And if both countries are part of the Hague Abduction Convention (like Germany and the United Kingdom), they would be returned after a relatively swift legal procedure (well in Germany and the U.K. that is; if it's something like Tunisia - also a party- good luck with that). And the children don't need a German passport to live with you in Germany, if you have one (And it would always be quite easy for them to gain citizenship if their mother is German; granted it could possibly become a bit more difficult after Brexit because Germany is quite restrictive about allowing double nationalities for non-EU countries - or maybe they provide a tailormade arrangement like for the Turks, but most Brits wouldn't qualify for the present one).

So it's plain hypocrisy, I understand you might like Farage but still.

That's the nature of unexpected events isn't it? Doctors get a whole bunch of things wrong too, but we still tend to trust them as they know more about these things than anyone else. The question isn't about if someone is perfect in their judgement, but if they're better than anyone else.
True but given the supposed inside information that they would have had at the time...we are being told now that the sub-prime collapse was flashing like a faulty neon sign.
