It's all down to deindustrialisation and the emancipation of society innit, with traditional masculine jobs like bashing stuff and digging things up replaced by more feminine jobs like stroking people and telling them what jeans to buy. Men just don't like it. They need things to bash.

I suspect it's the steady income they miss more than the bashing.

Helpfully, we've responded to post-industrial deprivation/the new skills economy by tripling the cost of tuition, lowering per-pupil primary education spending by nearly 10%, and gutting support for mental health, and family and youth services.

British liberals in a nutshell. In desperate agony over Brexit, but still too cheap to do anything meaningful about what caused it. May parsimony forever prevail over every other value.

It was a post from over a year ago Joe, long before you got so wound up about name tags. Now, that vexes you far more than calling women cows.
I often called her a cow as for tagging Bruce you know full too well you have not been doing it for months many times coming from a mod who used bugger in his post that's rich coming from you........

Facetiousness aside, I'd say there has been greater acceptance of this among remain voters than there has among leave voters, who from the small sample on this site at least, seem to be focusing more on the national pride and sovereignty angle. I don't doubt at all that there are huge skill-based challenges ahead however that no one really seems to be giving any attention to.

Any chance you could you stop being offended by not being tagged by Bruce ? It's getting really boring now.

Analysis shows that areas with a larger proportion of men also had a higher percentage of leave votes. Funny, I must have missed all those articles calling for men to lose the right to vote.

It wouldn't be in the Guardian if there wasn't the obligatory anti-male comment.
The stephen laxley Lennon fan club and those on the marches seem to be at least 90% male, at a casual glance the remain protest seems to have a greater female presence than the pro brexit ones

I read a survey the other day saying that remain voters are much more handsome than leave voters, so it's not surprising really.

Sadly mate, we are getting let down i don't mean me or brexit voters, i mean us all by the government and the EU ,
The EU and government are playing politics instead of getting a deal in place to suit both parties, for instance we the UK cant cherry pick are deal on finance , but the EU want to cherry pick on fisheries .
Our main political parties are sadly in a poor state and has been shown up to be inept , i would say the worst in my lifetime.
In answer to your question orchard , if the deal that is supposed to be on the table is correct, i cannot see why we would want if its worse than staying in , so why do it.
On another note it has taken away focus on home politics which need sorting out.

The deal with the EU must be worse than just staying in. We’ve always known this. There will be some kind of short term hit. We however then get an opportunity to do additional/different business while setting our own standards and rules, both for products and services. Unless of course May and her civil service acolytes just tie us into the EU forever on worse terms.....

I accept that and you accept that but that wasn’t being said by the leave side prior to the vote . For clarity I know both sides lied , pamphlets and that .

I see Merkel is now calling for a real and true EU army....I can’t see any problems with this, it’s not like the big EU countries would ever bully anyone...oh no, wait......
