There are already representations being made by other EU countries through their strategic development arms to multi national companies in Britain mate.

I know mate. The company I was last working at we spent a lot of time looking at our next step should brexit happen and unfortunately given the nature of the operations will end up having to leave.

It may also suit other countries to marginalise Britan, Coutries who's economic plan is to attract foreign direct investment may want the UK out of the free market and try to attract new or moving multi nationals from Britain. Countries hoping Britain is a more difficult place to travel to Tourism. Countries with competing financial services centres or IT development may not want the UK in a free market because as it is liketo suit there economy and development. Each member state will have its own national agenda.

I agree. It's been painted as a pretty straightforward future based on our apparent global stature, when in reality it's anything but.

In one of the recent debates, a member of the public was outraged that our trade as a percentage of worldwide trade had dropped in the past ten years. This member of the public was obviously totally oblivious to the fact that India and China are catching up economically to the West, and that this would invariably cause a drop.

A prime example of the Leave idiocy.

I'm afraid it isn't as simple as that. A big reason for other countries to want to work with Britain is out gateway to the EU. We don't offer that any more so I'm not sure it will be as easy as people think. As Obama said, they're working on a trade deal with 27 countries so you can appreciate how that's a whole lot more valuable than doing so with each individually.

I mean think about it from our point of view. Would you want Britain to have to go out and strike trade deals with each of the remaining nations?

Please explain how we are a gateway to Europe?

Yup

Germany, France and even Ireland and Luxembourg have had their eyes on the UK financial sector for years and they now have a chance to cut.

No way will they be cutting any favourable deals

Vote Leave based their campaign around cutting immigration and "taking back control"

You see, this is not quite correct. I've posted it in depth on here several times before. To precis, NOT having laws imposed by the EU which run contray to what we already have in place; NOT having our existing laws changed by dictats (or whatever the legal term may be) from the EU; NOT having the judgements given out by our courts overturned by EU courts, these are issues which come under the umbrella of 'taking back control', not just immigration. And giving Ford a loan to transfer work out of the UK (ergo loss of jobs here) to Turkey (not even an EU member!). More than 17 million did noy vote that way just because of immigration. However the 'Remain' voters seem to think that was the only issue. In all seriousness, it runs much deeper than that.

That's the taking back control part I mentioned

The trade barriers in place after leaving the EU will mean that your EU imports cost more. The price of your products being sold to the EU will also become more expensive for them. For a lot of the products the UK sell to the EU they will look to buy from elsewhere as there will now be cheaper alternative options. Once you can't sell as many products what will the companies do? Either downscale operations and reduce staff or just simply move to the EU in many cases.

How can you possibly say the above when the process of negotiating trade agreements with EU countries once we are finally detached hasn't even begun.

All the above is, is urinating into the breeze...

Because as well as being a very attractive place to base a company, (law, low corruption, tax, skilled labour) we are also part of the EU so free trade et al. Or are for the time being anyrate.

I have zero idea, but I dont think Greece or Rumania have the sort of multi national companies like Honda and Nissan basing themselves there, despite enjoying the same free trade that we currently do.
