I quite like the argument about ‘changing the EU from within’. Now considering just how long we’ve been in there and just how much we’ve changed it, this looks like we’d need at least a Century because we’ve done sod all in over 40years......

Hahaha......as if they aren’t doing the same......

“The European Union’s Brexit negotiators fear that they are being bugged by the British secret service after the UK obtained sensitive documents “within hours” of them being presented to a meeting of EU officials last month, The Telegraph understands.

A highly placed EU source revealed the security concerns as British negotiators were set to return to Brussels on Thursday to resume Brexit talks.”......

Also on Sky papers review they point out that the EU president Juncker is a an alledgedly alcoholic having to be propped up at 11-30 am at the last EU summitlol

Yes they spent OUR money well for a change .........
They ensure that we spend the money that’s available via the various different funding methods on projects that improve the locale, primarily from the angle of economic development.

Many of our most run down and deprived communities have benefited from that process. A process that will end when we leave the EU. Happy days.

It's a bit like the EU fund that exists to help communities adapt to changes in their population, say as the result of migration. The UK government refuse to use that and instead offer their own fund that is a fraction of the size. I'm sure it has nothing to do with deliberately creating a groundswell of anger towards migrants that can be channeled into leaving the EU.

Led by a brandy soaked leader............ who has to be propped up at an EU summit to stop him falling over my he must make great decisionslol..........
Bruce the town dock area in Liverpool was a great success, but i have seen money blown by the EU on unneeded cycle tracks only the other day I told a biker to use it instead of the busy main road as unpleastlies were passed to one another - other schemes that don't get used etc etc, and awarded the 2nd worst development ugliest buildings in other areas all funded by the EU which is our membership money.......

Yes how may voted OUT again.......

Little Englanders ? My guess all of them .

On a serious point firstly I’ll begin by saying again this thread drags me in despite me not wanting to post and secondly leave won the referendum, just for clarity I Thought I’d let you know I’m both aware and accept the result .

On the point of funding to the Merseyside region I think surely anybody would find it hard to argue that successive governments , particularly Tory governments would have funded the regeneration of my City . All evidence in their history suggests that simply wouldn’t have happened, so from a local point of view many scousers can accept both that we’ve done very well from said funding and that once the funding is reallocated to central government that we’ll be unlikely to be top of Whitehall’s list .

That’s not me insulting you or claiming you’re old Or a racist or stupid or whatever perceived slight you’ll read into that I’m not suggesting any of that . It’s just that this area did well from EU funding and whatever your Brexit view that seems a reasonable point surely ?

Obviously this conversation is specifically about Liverpool and let’s face it the derelict festival garden site isn’t the best example of how we’ve benefited from central funding .

Even without googling I know they’ve given well over a hundred million (it’s probably more) in funding for skills training , millions for the echo arena and funding for both cathedral’s .

Like I say it’s not about whether either of us are right or wrong on Brexit or who won , which to be clear was leave , but whether Liverpool has benefitted from the EU and whether we may suffer in the future . The answer to the first point seems clear and possibly Beyond debate and I think you may struggle to convince many that the same isn’t true of the second point.
