Simple way around that is to train UK nurses on the wards cutting out the university degree as only an option , and not a necessity to become a qualified nurse training on the ward and day release to get vocational nursing qualifications should be optional to swell the numbers needed it happened before quite successfully in the past!
Many expeericed nurses working on the wards , clinics now never needed a degree, there should be options to swell the ranks some people are not academic, but are much better practically!
They could within 6-12 months be of a valuable idea to increase the numbers needed!

Who would pay for/fund it? The NHS budget doesn't/wont be able to afford to accommodation 'training'. That is unless the magic money tree £350 million per week to the NHS is found.

The crisis in the NHS is Tory made because they don't really believe in it. That is why they were enthusiastic about TTIP, which would have further privatised the NHS. With an insurance scheme similar to the US and the rest of Europe.

EU health workers are leaving in droves and causing a crisis. When were we told during the referendum 'debate' that this would happen?

Who funds the degrees?
Have less of them , and divert the money to vocational skills.....

It's related to the then Alan Banks who donated funds to UKIP leave campaign- he went to Russia no mention he is married to a Russian , anyway in front of the select committee tomorrow.....

That wont matter to some who are trying to use the 'Russian connection' to get the result deemed null and void and have a re-run.

He put the same amount of funds in as the propaganda Gideon Davy boy leaflet paid for by 17.4 million out leavers how corrupt was that......

The problem is that youngsters at school aren't really allowed to venture into the world of 'vocational' because OFSTED can't measure the 'value'. So schools go down that road at their peril. The whole system would have to change radically and there is change.

A new 'vocational' school has opened in Hull working with local companies.

There should be an opportunity for youngsters to go into 'trades' but this is piecemeal and would require a bit more joined up thinking..

It doesn't matter what Cameron/Osbourne did in 2016, no-one is going to take them to court. There are those that are attempting to use the Aaron Bank's 'Russian connection' to overturn/have a re-run.

UK campaigners file US lawsuit against Brexit backer's firms

"The suit further alleges that the data may have been brought to the University of Mississippi, where the companies sought to create their own version of Cambridge Analytica, the controversial firm that used data mined from social media networks to try to sway voters’ behaviour.

Fair Vote and the lead plaintiff in the case, a British resident called Kyle Taylor, have said in court filings that they want to determine whether any UK data was illegally transferred to Mississippi as part of the groups’ plans.

It is also seeking answers about whether data was illegally used to target political advertising to UK voters before the referendum to leave the EU on 23 June 2016".

Still out of his depth is hypocrite Rees Mogg.

Rees-Mogg: no need for customs checks at Dover in no-deal Brexit

Legal experts dismiss Tory MP’s vision, saying it would breach WTO rules

Jacob Rees-Mogg has said that there would be no need for customs checks at Dover on EU imports in the event of a no-deal Brexit, suggesting that any delays for exports to Europe would be France’s responsibility.

The leading Conservative party Brexiter said checks would not be needed because EU goods could be trusted.

However, his vision was immediately dismissed by legal experts as a breach of World Trade Organization rules because it would amount to discriminatory practice.

In a phone-in on London radio station LBC he told a concerned caller from the Kent town that he had no need to worry.

“The delays will not be at Dover, they will be at Calais,” Rees-Mogg told him, claiming that the French would have to conducts checks under EU law, but the UK would not as it would have taken back control of its borders.

Nathaniel, who did not give his surname, called to ask Rees-Mogg when the government was going to “take seriously” the problems local people would face with congestion if there is no deal. He said locals had already dubbed the government’s plans “Operation Stack on steroids”, a reference to the existing scheme which is put in place in the event of disruption.

Rees-Mogg, who is head of the European Research Group of MPs, told him: “There will be no need to have any delays on goods coming in from the continent in the event we leave with no deal, because goods that are safe on 29 March will be safe on 30 March and that means inbound traffic ought not to suffer any delays because it will be our choice.”

He also claimed that if the French insisted on checks, lorries could divert to other ports in Europe.

“If we leave without a deal and the French say your goods can’t come in via Calais, which is possible, but then there are other ports and Rotterdam and Antwerp have been increasing their infrastructure and taking on more customs officers,” he said.

His vision was dismissed as confused by the British Ports Association.

“It is difficult to see a situation where food and other products could be legally imported from another customs territory without being subject to some kind of border check. We understand that government may choose to waive these in event of no deal but we are not sure of the basis of that decision. Presumably that would be an emergency option and it is certainly not a comfortable fallback position in the medium or long term,” said Richard Ballantyne, the BPA’s chief executive.

Legal experts also questioned Rees-Mogg’s claims and said they could break WTO rules.

“The basic idea that we will check non-EU goods but not check EU if there is no trade deal done with the EU or a customs union agreement will violate the basic rules of the WTO, because that would be deemed discriminatory,” said Steve Peers, professor or law at the University of Essex and EU law expert.

Ah. Rees-Mogg believes that in a no-deal scenario, the UK would still check non-EU goods, but would unilaterally waive checks on EU goods. Hard to see how this would be compatible with WTO law. https://twitter.com/lisaocarroll/status/1006116847962468352 …

Quite apart from the “narrow” issue of customs checks, there would also be an issue for suppliers such as car manufacturers because some “parts go back and forth across the channel several times”, Peers added".

This will become the norm.

Stretch of Kent motorway may be temporarily repurposed under latest contingency plans.

would have happened anyway the first time the pound v euro rate went down, if they can get more money elsewhere they will take it naturally, hasn't helped that the NHS workers haven't had a rise in six years in top of that so in real terms there wages have gone down.
A more important question is why are we not training the right number of people in the UK and haven't done for years, its to easy taking other counties of skilled workers .
i think its wrong to strip the likes of India, ect of health works the could badly do with themselves.
We need to invest in the young people in this country not just look at the cheapest option.

Absolutely. We always take the short term solution which invariably turns into a long term solution when we should have done it ourselves......

Unless there is a will there is not a way. There is no joined up thinking about training young people due to, not just money, but how any course is 'judged' to be 'value for money'. There could have been an opportunity since the 2016 vote to train up the nurses, doctors, engineers, electricians, plumbers, etc. but there is no appetite for that with this government. They were/are more interested in gaining political advantage over Labour rather than getting their hands dirty investing in training. Some companies train young people but there is nowhere near enough to plug the skill 'shortage'. I agree about the likes of Indian sub continent, Africa and parts of Europe being stripped on their talented people, who they trained up at huge expense to that country but don't see the benefit.
