Or maybe it's far less sinister than that. Perhaps the long game is to end deep-seated distrust among former adversaries to work towards common goals that are mutually beneficial.

This mutual benefits bit, who happens to be benefitting the most ?........

I sense a metaphor.

Well, it certainly resonated with me; I've no truck with Little-Englandism. I consider myself a Scouse-English European ahead of any concept of being "British." I'm not interested in trying to convert you and Joey, Pete. You two are more set than concrete, but hopefully there is a sizeable proportion of people out there who are now rather alarmed by the reality of hard brexit.

If you think that butt-licker to the EU is a shining example of why we should remain in the EU...

Each to his own way, I'll go mine.

Now, over to you to make the usual response.

Nuts, more like

I am sure there are many people that share his view. Nuts seems a bit harsh. I just think it confirms that there is a deep-seated distrust of Germany among some people in the UK. I'm not sure what they've done recently that would make folks feel like there is anything sinister at play.

I actually appreciate the candor.

Is it any wonder the Irish contingent on here are firmly in the Remain camp? We are the region guaranteed to be adversely affected by the leave vote and our vote is being completely disregarded by the Tory/DUP tryst.

Major showed his disregard for Ireland with his kowtowing to the Ulster Unionists in the 90s. Political wage packets ahead of peace. May has taken the baton and run with it.

May’s comments on legacy investigations, completely erroneous and dangerous claims, all in the interests of political preservation.

Ireland was never a Westminister consideration re Brexit and as far as Westminster is concerned, it still isn’t.
