Yep i know this to be true also as my cousin actually covers the EU for the paper she works for back home in Ireland. You are right its generally boring stuff that they don't want to print.
How would they "order" someone to join. How does that work exactly? Come of it, now you are reaching.
and all this will happen before June 2023 and all the 27 member nations will go along with it?

So in five years, Ireland will give up it's neutral status, give up control of it's corporate tax rate and join Schengen, all without a single referendum because they've been told to?
Funny how the express is the only newspaper that thinks this will happen or that its even a plan.
Not one other reputable news agency even talks about this yet the express has published several.
The EU cannot force a nation to use the Euro and if anything some of the other members would object to any bullying. Remember each states is represented and each state gets a vote.
They would have to convince every member.
It's funny, my main concern about Brexit was for the NI border and how it might affect me/my family. But part of me didn't really care what decision Britain (not NI) made. They've never been on board really.
But this kind of stuff really makes me feel for the people in Britain who voted remain.

Whats ironic is several posters in here accusing the EU of spreading fear and fear mongering or calling it project fear over the last 100 pages and that's exactly what the brexiteers are doing.

The EU are currently discussing a plan to prevent EU states from using veto powers to block legislation in areas that usually demand a unanimous vote. eg taxation issues.

Well, history tells us that if a referendum doesn't produce the results that the EU requires, they have to vote again. EU 'democracy'at work.
