No chance. It won't happen. The economic .implications are too serious, the Irish border and the chaos of the Leave coalition. One or most likely a combination of all those will ensure we don' leave. worst case for me is an extended transition period within which the general public will wise up.

Likewise I will never give up believing it should.be stopped as I care about the future for my kids.

Did you know there was a huge correlation between the areas that voted Leave and the areas booted up on anti-depressants. What does that tell you?

That leave voters are really fed up with the remainers ?.........

He’s been a politician for what, two and a half years, having cocked up the CPS before that. In what way does he have the background to determine the future of the U.K., seriously........

Hang on I thought most Leave voters loved this anti-politician approach? The guy seems incredibly intelligent to me and speaks with integrity. What are you saying he did at the CPS?

Assume that's a joke.....the idea that Johnson and Rees Mogg would be standing up to defend the rights of the 17 million Leave voters is hilarious! You really couldn't find a greater disparity between these two and the average Leave voter if you tried

And such a law would have Boris jailed for 20 years for the shameful lies he told about the extra £350m a week for the NHS!!
The tory grassroots love both of them, if one gets the support of the other they will be next pm

In the summer of 2012 Nick Cohen, a journalist, published allegations that Starmer was personally responsible for the continued prosecution of Paul Chambers, a traveller who, frustrated at airport delays, had posted a joke about Doncaster Sheffield Airport on Twitter. In the case known as the "Twitter Joke Trial" Chambers had been convicted of sending a "public electronic message that was grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character". The trial and conviction provoked widespread protest by free-speech activists, but the Crown Prosecution Service maintained a long-term opposition to Chambers' appeals. According to Chambers' defenders, prosecutors had been willing to stop opposing the appeals, but Starmer had over-ruled his subordinates because he was "trying to save face by refusing to admit he was in the wrong."

Are you... are you seriously criticising Keir Starmer for making a blunder, whilst calling Boris Johnson one of our best politicians?

Seriously now?

I understand that, and I don't think a second vote would be in the best interests of your country at this point.

It was just a hypothetical thinking out loud post. Seems like the staunch Leavers feel like they got a snatch and grab result.
Or in my case I'm horrified at the way people seem perfectly happy to ignore a democratic vote because it wasn't the result they wanted. I've said over and over I'd be fuming had remain won and leave demanded a second referndum. The result is the result, playing best two out of three (because should a second referndum result in remain a third would inevitably and quite reasonably be demanded) is an appalling way to run a country. Maybe in legal terms a second referndum is quite right and proper but in terms of ethics and reason it would be disastrous and cause even further resentment in an already very devided country.

With your second point, I don't think leave got all that lucky really. I'm fairly sure that remain and leave felling is about 50-50 in this county and that circumstances on any given day could trip the balance. So in all honesty it wasn't a "smash and grab" in any sense at all.

To your first point IMO it shouldn't have been a mere majority for a win on something as important as this. 60% (or more) super majority for victory should have been the standard. It seems prudent to me at least. I am not even sure something that big should be a vote. I can't decide on that part.

Had the status quo remained the same and the vote was close I would guarantee there would have be folks trying to drum up support for another referendum. Even further emphasizing the importance of a super majority.

The smash and grab comment was with regards to the completely BS campaign that people have now had time to reflect on. Demonizing immigrants, that NHS bus lie, etc...not to mention not having a clue how to deal with ROI/NI.

Its not a cup final at the end of play thats it. Referendum is a small part of UK democrocy, which is ongoing.

Is grassroots, the fabled Tory membership number thingy, for a party that likes the bottom line and statistical evidence they suddenly come over all fuzzy on Tory membership numbers, cant think why?

"Japan sees Brexit as an act of economic and political self-harm that will reduce the United Kingdom’s influence on the world stage, says a former British ambassador to Tokyo.

Sir David Warren, who served in the post from 2008 to 2012, argued it was time for plain speaking on the impact of Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union. He regarded the potential effect on UK-Japan relations as “grave”."

Have there been any companies or governments outside of Britain that have come out saying that Brexit will make Britain whatever it is Davis, Johnson et al claim it will be?
