May will be challenged if she cocks this up - could be gone before Xmas if we cannot simply get to stage 2 - yesterdays fudge will win have to be backtracked, and that leaves her vulnerable the vultures will circle we voted to leave the UK as a unit - no customs union - no single market - on EU terms just an agreed. Trade deal for all the 100 percent of the U.K.!
She is utterly useless needs binning!

Isn't that the point that people have made repeatedly in this thread Joe? There wasn't any specific form of leaving proposed to the electorate to vote upon. It was a very simple in/out choice, so I'm not sure you can say that even those who voted to leave did so under the belief that we'd leave the single market (vs say the Norway model)

Any leaver who says that it was 100% certain that we'd leave the single market and customs union at the time of the vote is either being disingenuous or re-writing history, as that was never a given.

That's rank partisanship though tbh. I'd much rather we had a competent government, whomever they were, as we're in such a crucial time in our history.

And Brexit from calling the referendum to calling the election in the hope of burying Labour is not partisanship , if it walks like duck quacks like a duck.
I suppose similar vein to the Brexiteer who is happy for a bit economic pain just as long as we regain the wooly control and democracy, despite it meaning faltering living standards, low wage growth and increasing inflation...

You have got it so wrong Bruce you are taking the stance of a Vince Cable /Clegg argument that has no supporting vote - in the lead up to the referendum it was made quire clear in the 8 million pound booklet stating if we left the EU it would mean leaving the customs unit, and the single market as we would still be politically members of the EU 4 major laws !
Brexiteers claimed we would leave by a trade negotiation, and by leaving the EU customs union we had the capacity to trade on lower tarrifs we currently do now!
No deal is bebetter than a rubbish deal thank god the DUP stopped us being sold down the river yesterday
The brexiteers will gather rumours - are she will be gone soon!
She blew her election and now appears to,be blowing up a proper Brexit!

I'm afraid that isn't true at all Joe, either in the Janet and John version (https://www.gov.uk/government/uploa.../20160523_Leaflet_EASY_READ_FINAL_VERSION.pdf) or the full version (https://www.gov.uk/government/uploa.../517014/EU_referendum_leaflet_large_print.pdf).

It says, quite clearly, that leaving the EU creates uncertainty and risk, it doesn't saying that leaving 100% means leaving the customs union.

I've quoted the relevant section for you:

Voting to leave the EU would create years of uncertainty and potential economic disruption. This would reduce investment and cost jobs.

The Government judges it could result in 10 years or more of uncertainty as the UK unpicks our relationship with the EU and renegotiates new arrangements with the EU and over 50 other countries around the world.

Some argue that we could strike a good deal quickly with the EU because they want to keep access to our market. But the Government’s judgement is that it would be much harder than that – less than 8% of EU exports come to the UK while 44% of UK exports go to the EU.

No other country has managed to secure significant access to the Single Market, without having to:
• follow EU rules over which they have no real say
• pay into the EU
• accept EU citizens living and working in their country

@Old Blue 2

Presume you’re going to kick off about the above poster presuming to know why you voted to leave

@Old Blue 2

Presume your going to kick off and once again make your point that neither side help any authority after the referendum as there was no manifesto?

Replace may and put someone in charge who actually believes in the Brexit process.

Like Peter Pan, that. The only reason we aren't flying yet is that not enough people believe we can.

Naturally, we've jumped out of the aeroplane sans parachute (after telling the other 27 passengers to sod off) because of course we'll faith-heal our limbs into wings before we hit the ground...
