Aye, but plenty thought she was a competent, "safe pair of hands" prior to that disastrous election campaign and what's transpired since.

Well yes, it certainly lifted the lid on that particular notion. I'm far from convinced that Corbyn is any good either, which given the magnitude of the job the government has to do at the moment is a poor state of affairs. There are precious few respectable figures in either cabinet.

Ah Brexit, so many ironies, so many heads still in the sand.

As months of delusional Tory pontification again gives way to humiliating capitulation, another demonstration that after Article 50, EU power over Britain has never been greater.

Well done lads.

Easy to lose sight of the fact that the DUP hold a minority position in Northern Ireland with their desire to leave the EU. Today sees yet another party political decision ahead of what is best for the North.

I think they have acted correctly and saved the U.K. from caving in to the EU. Either we all have an appropriate deal or none of us do. I’d rather just walk away than have the EU carve us up. To suggest that NI should be in the customs union is just like saying that Ireland should remain within the U.K. trading bloc.......well done the DUP........

Oops........

Fascinating just listening to the BBC Diplomatic Editor on Newsnight.

There's a theory doing the rounds that this stage managed farce today is part of a wider plan to deliver a soft Brexit as the only possible option.

May can't do a Hard Brexit and risk a border with the Republic not to mention economic disaster. She can't move the border to the Irish Sea without alienating the DUP and the Scots.

So we get a fudge that sees the whole UK promise "non divergence" with EU rules and regulations. Likewse EU citizens protected by the ECJ and there's a £50bn cheque for membership of what is effectively the common market - save the UK gets to police migration and keep put all those pesky Polish.

Which may seem fine....... That £50Bn cheque however may harden the Brexiteer stance........but it’s out of our hands unless the government decides to let us vote on the deal........

You are over-estimating the DUP Pete. That wasn’t a decision based on economic grounds today.

They must be gutted at May’s contempt for them though. Or foolish not to have seen it coming.

Will the DUP get all the blame or will May get her just deserts by letting them become partners, matters not for me, just happy the Conservative government as predicted making a right mess.
