Is there actually any evidence for this EU army which will take powers away from states? I can't find anything which isn't scaremongering from Breitbart and the Express.

Did you not read post #17712 on page 1181?

If you don't think an EU army will happen, wait and see.

It's called, 'softly, softly, catchee monkey'. Small step at a time. The time-honoured way to rein in total control.

So I see that the EU parliament has voted for an EU Finace minister, EU army resources removed from nation states and put under control of a central body, EU wide taxation etc etc,.....everything that we said would happen that was laughed at by remainers seems to be coming to fruition......

This post? I can't find any evidence whatsoever for any of this happening. Feel free to prove me wrong.

Yeah, that's the one by pete.

If you don't think a centrally-controlled army, EU imposed taxation on member states, happening, Sean, then there's nothing more I can say or do. I, and others, believe that's the road the EU is going down, that's all.

Is it really too much to ask for a bit of evidence for these claims?

Sean, see the two things I've posted.

I asked you to provide evidence that the EU are creating an EU super army and taking military powers away from its member states and this is what you give me?

A comment piece by a conservative MP about why he disagrees with an EU army and a far-right publication taking an otherwise normal news story and scaremongering? My word.

If you read the Reuters piece which Breitbart has used to push its agenda, you will see that the agreement has been made as pressure from NATO has increased for member nations to hit its 2% spending targets.

Again, if you can evidence your theories with some proper sources, that would be helpful.

Poacher turned gamekeeper, eh Sean. The biter bit.

I will say no more. There's no point. I've put it there for you, you either take it or leave it. Can't do any more...

You will say no more because there is nothing to say on the matter. It is purely fantasy, armchair general stuff shared by eurosceptics. There is no evidence out there of the real possibility of an EU army commanded by Europe which will take powers away from member states. It's total, unfounded rubbish.

I agree with you, but that is why the current version of the EU should be treated with extreme suspicion. Why wouldn't a group of states that apparently want to work towards an ever closer union look to do something that is relatively simple (in terms of unification) as getting an EU-level armed force, especially as it would almost certainly be considerably more powerful and certainly cheaper than anything they could come up with individually?

Because it's member states would never allow it's armed forces to be solely controlled by an EU executive. The proposition would break up the EU completely, hence why it will never, ever be proposed.

Ho hum...

French Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve insisted there is greater need for an EU defence system, because the President-elect called NATO “obsolete.”

At the National Assembly in Paris, he said: “We need European defense, with European means, with European investments, with a European projection capacity that will make the EU, the peoples and the nations that make it up, independent.”

A European Army has been on the cards for a long time as ministers across the bloc insist they need to protect their interests as a group.
In November 2016 a resolution was passed to create such a union.
