Why now? Why when he's had his best season in a blue shirt to date?

Hibbert is a good right back and based on some of his form this year I'd be ok with him still being first choice next year. But I worry that after the cup final he's going to be consistently targetted by opposition teams, since he was so conspicuously and successfully targetted in the most high profile game he's ever played in. Won't do his confidence any good.

Right, all teams need to do is pass the ball to their £14m world class out and out winger and we are screwed. I bet Burnley are putting the finishing touches on exactly such a plan right now.

Do you really think that after about 8-9 years as a Premier League right back, opposition managers didn't know about Hibbert's weaknesses? That Hiddink hit upon a brilliant new strategy they hadn't thought of? "Oh, run AT him with the ball. That's brilliant that is. All these years we've been running away from him without the ball, but that's even better."

Look, I'm not making Hibbert out to be a great player, and certainly not as good as Baines, but do you not think that at least part of the reason that Chelsea attacked down their left flank is that their right winger is Anelka? And that Hibbert got booked inside 10 minutes? And that Osman wasn't helping out? And that Malouda has, since Hiddink turned up, been one of the best out and out wingers in world football?



Why do we have to polarise opinions so much on these forums? If you don't like somebody, he's not just an average player; oh no, he has to be unfit to wear the shirt, a disgrace. I remember people saying Lee Carsley was useless, and that we should pick youth team players instead, because "they can't be any worse". James Beattie the same. Even Andy Johnson some people truly hated.

Theres so many points here I want to discuss but I'm really tired.

But when I have the energy to reply, your post will look like Hibbert, and mine will look like Malouda.

Talking to a friend of mine today who watched the final with a friend of his (he's a Forest supporter and his friend supports Palace) who said that although Hibbert had a tough match, he was going up against arguably the in form winger in the Premier League at the time.

we cannot just blame Tony,the team as a hole was not 100% on the day.

His performance was unfortunatly more evident than most. He didn't IMO get enough support from players in front of him.

To be fair we didnt lose because of Tony Hibbert, we lost because as a TEAM we were utter crap. Fellaini and Pienaar where the only 1s who earned their pay.

A bridge too far sadly, it was an excellent season, they yet again played above and beyond and dealt with some awful injuries. Through the season everybody played a part and they all deserve to end the season as the 5th best squad in the league.

Well done lads. Keep making us proud.
