If we take Salzburg out of this do you agree? Or are you actually happy with what we are doing?

You said Haaland would have been dumb to come here from Molde because we don't give youth a chance and we don't help improve young players.

I showed you the stats to show how we give them minutes and I showed you the fees that back up our improvement of young players.

Case closed.

There's also the part where Haaland went to Salzburg and within half a season moved into a top 10 team in Europe and did it while also making an absolute fortune in fees. Do you actually think that could have possibly happened here?

I appreciate that you think what you said was convincing evidence but you've left out every season but one and left out all the players who weren't successes. There are some holes shall we say.

Why would I include players that weren’t a success? Will you start including failed Salzburg sales?

I’d say what Rooney did at the time was akin to what Haaland has done. Except in a much harder league.

And that's totally fair. Except it was also 15 years ago. My feeling is it maybe isn't relevant to the current state of things.

A teenager blowing up a league and then getting a move to a Top 10 world team whilst earning a fortune is relevant no matter when it happened.
I can only speak for myself, but if your pitch to sign me for something included a discussion of something you did in 2004 I'd be unimpressed. We're talking about players who were 5 years old when Rooney was sold.

Wait, what, when did I say that would be Everton’s pitch? I just gave you a relevant example because you said it would never happen at Everton.

Do you think if he went from Molde to Everton he’d currently be in our U23 squad then since we don’t give youth a chance or improve them?

Don't worry about it. Believe it or not, I enjoy these types of discussions. It has clogged up the thread but I don't think many people are coming to look here anyway.
Ha! No i know .. wasn’t being particularly serious ... I think you’re both right to be honest. But the middle ground doesn’t do well on the interweb...

everton have given time to the likes of DCL cos they just couldn’t find a decent Striker since Lukaku and DCLs timing was spot on.. Holgate only got a shot cos we couldn’t sign Zouma and ran out of time for someone else .. Davies has good numbers but is in and out... Kenny was shipped out this season after being dropped any time Coleman was fit again...

I think that Everton are mediocre at developing players and at times also questionable at giving them enough chances.

I think if we made an offer for a young player who also had an offer from RB Salzburg they could potentially decide that Salzburg gives them a better chance of making it.

I think that if Everton want to compete for the CL and actual trophies they will need to get better at improving players while they're at the club. This doesn't just mean young players, but also guys in the age range of Gomes, Bernard, Mina, etc. who have not really shown much more than what they did at the start of their time here.

That's really it.

Haaland chose Salzburg becuase he knew he would get a look in its pretty simple he's developed well in 6 months but that will happen with chances in the PL its much tougher and the sink or swim mentality means we can't afford to throw players in the deep end our first team would wipe the floor with salzburg.
