Brilliant to see the flights resume. Must have been such a tough 18 months for loads of families.
With business travel down around 50% it's going to be tough either way as business flyers subsidised the rest of us in a major way.Yeah, but no beef on Virgin. We're saved.
Nowhere near as tough as it's going to be for them if we don't put a cork in that carbon.
Do you actually think stopping UK to USA air travel is a realistic option?
The world must continue. Innovation is needed urgently, not a return to living in caves.
Like video conferencing?

There are real people still out there yanno.Great stuff. Let's all just live in the facebook meta forever then. Problem solved.
Surely people don't need to travel when Skype is an option?
The world will continue.
Not sure why you've chosen the paleolithic example, there are plenty of others, exaggeration? Anyways, we're not time travellers.
Realism. We don't have the resources, time left, or cheap fuel to replicate what we are used to now and have BAU.
There are crop shortages now inflicted by the damage we caused years ago (today's compound damage is coming along sometime), which will inevitably cause major issues, especially where we've off-shored manufacturing to capitalise on cheap labour.
I don't need to find a solution. It's conclusive from the leaked scientific report that we need to stop using carbon that's in the ground now. Businesses used to operate before flight. Personally, I don't fly anymore.Out of interest. What's your solution to reducing air travel? I don't think a 7 day boat to the USA will work.

There's going to be no magic solution for you if we keep green-washing to keep business as usual. We're just going to make things worse. And please keep in mind that it will almost definitely effect you.personally, especially as resources and labour deplete and the environment changes. That's already baked in,. Flying because families have had a tough yea makes our future less tenable.
Maybe, but you won't be able to afford it, nor would it be good for the environment. We just don't have cheap energy anymore, hence fertiliser prices going up 11-fold, that time has gone and we wasted it making and buying singing carp.Fair enough making the decision not to fly but the vast majority are unlikely to make that decision. I would be extremely surprised if flights are not happening in say 20 years time. I think they need to get hydrogen or electric planes in the sky as soon as possible.
My folks lifestyle during the pandemic barely changed at all, so I'm sure they, like you, would not bat an eyelid if they were asked to stop doing something they never did anyway (and forced those who did to stop doing so), but I think I can speak on behalf of my wife when I say that all of the Skype calls with the family aren't the same as actually seeing them face-to-face. As it is, air travel accounts for 16% of passenger travel emissions, so the cynic in me might question whether it's being targeted because it's perceived as something done by frivolous business tossers and frivolous package holiday tossers and therefore can be done away with without changing the world for the worse.I don't need to find a solution. It's conclusive from the leaked scientific report that we need to stop using carbon that's in the ground now. Businesses used to operate before flight. Personally, I don't fly anymore.

So you'd presumably want to ban meat, seeing as meat production generates nearly 20% of all emissions?Maybe, but you won't be able to afford it, nor would it be good for the environment.
