She’s right in what she says as well.

Guess this backlash would come on to any prominent figure who’s saying this kind of thing but she seems to rile up a lot more people than you’d expect.
The desperate search to try and prove her, and people like her are hypocrites is embarrassing.

I might be wrong here but hasn't she essentially admitted she hasn't got a policy idea that would resolve the issue?

Other than abandoning capitalism I can't really see any solutions to the world wide issue. Maybe richer countries can get to zero by 2050 or a bit earlier but I just can't see how the whole world can manage it.

COP could have done anything and she'd have said it did nothing, as that's her soapbox - moaning at world leaders. A pawn used by those with ulterior motives.

She's never suggested anything of substance, which is to be expected as she's just a random kid.

She highlights an issue, I just haven't really seen any real answers that can actually happen.

How do we offset or make up for emerging economies having increased consumption?

Can carbon capture technologies help?
  • Renewable energy improves energy security as we're not reliant on dodgy regimes.
  • Renewable energy reduces air pollution, which has a direct health benefit.
  • The circular economy reduces plastic waste, both freeing up economic value and reducing the impact on wildlife and our waterways.
  • Making the country greener has benefits both for wildlife and our own wellbeing.
  • Adopting sustainable agricultural practices has evident benefits in a world with growing demands both on food and water supplies.

All of these things are relevant regardless of what anyone else does and also happen to help climate change.

This is incredibly weird. The other day it was "oh look at Joanna Lumley, isn't she a daft mare, why would anyone listen to her", to which I gave this idea from actual experts from Oxford

To which no comment was given because it's easier to scoff at Thumberg or Lumley for not being the experts you're only going to ignore anyway.

I didn't see this in fairness.

I think Lumley is ridiculous. Greta less so, she has good intentions. I just haven't seen many real ideas that actually seem doable. Carbon capture if it works does seem like a good option.

A study published today, for instance on the link between air pollution and COPD

One of many similar studies, all of which contribute to what the WHO say is a health emergency as much as a climate emergency.

As I put on my post earlier. Rich countries can probably achieve it and I agree with your points. It's emerging economies that I have doubts about.

Given the optics round air travel, private jets and all... Frequent flight levy would be an excellent addition in combating green house gases, it's quoted 70% of all flights are taken by just 15% of people. That's disgusting obscene amounts of damage caused by a minority of people.

"Nuffink we can do though..."
