A lot of the issues with green alternatives are around storage. Most of the power generated happens at the wrong time for usage. If we look at most solar systems, the battery needed to store the power generated far outweighs the benefit of having them anyway. Otherwise its putting it back into the grid and pushing the problem somewhere else.

That scales up and we see wind turbines turned off as they have nowhere for the power to go. I've heard of farmers being paid to have barns turned into giant batteries if they have the right power lines crossing their land.

There seems very little innovation in this area. Lithium ion batteries are much more efficient, but simply put, they can't be a solution for the masses. Generating the power really isn't the issue.

We were thinking of both installing solar panels and fully reviewing the insulation currently in our house (a large property so financially worthwhile). However there's been a change of heart following the current incidents of urban terrorism on the M25 and at the port of Dover. It might be against my own interests but they've annoyed me so much I'm prepared to forgo any savings and do the precise opposite to what they want.

You can't let terrorists win and that's what I class them as.
Lol

Investment in battery capacity for solar energy is up about 400% or something this year. That is from a relatively low base, but it is going to happen. For instance, MIT researchers have argued for the same tech used in electric vehicle batteries to be used for solar storage.

Haha

Freedom fighters, surely. Eco-jihadists.

You absolutely should do that. It's a giant thumb in the eye to a bunch of uni-students and alumni who mostly studied theater. Huge power move.

Their methods are having the reverse effect for many and achieving the precise opposite. Putting people's lives and livelihoods at risk is crass.
Yes, you've made that point quite eloquently in your preceding replies.

However my question was what might be a successful strategy?

It is permissable to say "I don't know". Indeed, a rarity in this foul age.

It's possible to demonstrate and give your cause the airtime you want without breaking the law and endangering people's lives. An approach based on the former is the only way to persuade and not alienate people

A ghandi style approach? Non-violent peaceful protest?

Which did probably break the law of its time.

Anyway, more details please. Where, when, what kind of attention grabbing activity makes for lawful yet effective eco-jihad?

Their current approach is clearly ineffective as besides the serious stuff it at a minimum infuriates a large section of society who as a result are far less likely to be sympathetic to their supposed aims. It therefore stands to reason that virtually any other way of demonstrating without endangering lives and livelihoods would be far more effective in gaining a sympathetic hearing for many.

Post WW2 India and the laws of colonial rule aren't the laws operating in Britain today.
