..these things can get too romantic. I’d prefer to look at the job Unsworth is doing with the U23s and use that to justify if he should be considered for the post. For the points I made in the last few days, I think he should be considered, but none of those were because he’s an ex-player.

If Unsworth made the step up again it’s a bit romantic to say he should be assisted by Royle and Ferguson. I suspect Unsworth would want his own people around him. He appears to work well with John Ebbrell. Royle appears to be fine in the role he has.

You mention the Boot Room, I think it was a Red in Souness who went a long way in breaking that up.
Romance is better than this Dutch Numpty who cannot even select a team to win!

Sadly you can in today’s football.

The key is staying afloat in the cash cow that is the EPL.

Then you can happily tread water for twenty years, win nowt, sell out practically every league game and still have a waiting list for season tickets.

Just like EFC at the moment :(

And IMO that is the remit Moshiri has given Koeman.

Just stay in the top flight.

Avoid defeat in the “unexpected loss” games and you are doing swell Ron ;)

In other words, the Mike Ashley football club ownership model

...and if it starts to look like your manager and/or team could jeopardise that? How long do you give it?

The board won’t sack him

Why? Compensation

No only that but the club are happy to just collect the premier league money. They won’t risk 4th or title challenges because it’s easier and cheaper to just be steady in the league and collect the money. As long as Ronald keeps us around mid table he stays
Please tell me why we can't find the money to compensate him for failure.
I've always been at a loss why we can seemingly spunk £10m plus on youngsters we don't play but can't find a similar amount to pay off duds like Koeman.

I wish I shared your confidence

This is looking just like 14/15, and we only just avoided getting dragged into it that season as well

I honestly couldnt give a flick at this point in time Mikey, Everton have beaten me, they have taken away my passion for them.

We have to many issues for me to even have any hope for the future at this point, the lack of Striker signing in the Summer has ruined me.

Its put us back 5-6 years, basically its gonna take a LONG, LONG time to even get back to the "best of the rest", as a club we are broken and I doubt whether we can be fixed.

We have a striker, but he's being played out on the wing

Seriously, get a manager in who will play players in their natural positions and we'll get enough points to be safe. We won't win owt like, but that's not the battle this season now sadly. The battle is about surviving
