Enner Valencia

What? They've watched him week in week out for 2 years, what does this statement even mean? What if Hull signed Tom Cleverley and we all started laughing at them, would they say "why Everton fans are suddenly to be trusted I don't know..."? It makes no sense, I'd trust a West Ham fan over an Everton fan on the subject of a West Ham player any day of the week

It was a joke Mike - as I've stated in previous responses.

i.e. - they think they won the World Cup, they think Noble is the greatest player, they think they're some kind of footballing superpower.

Weird thing is half of our fans seem to think the same way.

Haven't properly read through any of the previous responses, apologies

no worries - didn't mean for that post to sound arsey haha

but yeh - it was more that we take the mick out of Hammers for being melts is all.

I've seen a lot of Valencia through work etc and I do think he's OK.

We could and probably should have done better - but as far as 'panic' signings go we could have done a lot worse as it's a low-risk loan and he's back up.

I wasn't overwhelmed with the Gueye signing, and I think we've all been proved wrong on that, so I'm willing to wait and see.

I do worry though because they've had some utter donkeys over the years, they idolise Andy Carroll ffs who's absolute turd, their standards for players are very low. And even THEY have been hounding Valencia for the last 2 years. There's a difference between what, say an Arsenal fan views as crap and what a West Ham fan does. Arsenal fans hate Giroud but he'd walk into most Prem teams. West Ham fans idolise Carroll and Mark Noble. As I say, their standards are low

They were raving about him in the first season mate IIRC - the injury really seemed to have knocked him for six - he's still shown genuine flashes of being very good though.

Beattee had one good season mate in his career, and we signed him off the back of it? Saha was a crock and massive liability as a first choice striker. Remember when he finally signed a contract and then didn't score for months on end? Or when he didn't score for months before he left? All the times he was injured etc, all the makings of a poor investment for the course of the contract, although when we got the real player, he was great.

I base valencia elsewhere on the fact that a club who struggled for strikers and still do to a fair extent, still felt the need to get rid of him. He could be boss here, and i hope he is. But same way as signing any other player out of favour elsewhere around us, the club don't feel they are good enough for the level we are already at.

The difference between gueye and valencia is that gueye was (much like kone) plucked from france from a league that very few people seem to pay attention to and it turns out he is quite good. Same as kante/kone/marhez and the like. Valencia on;y appeared on anyones radar because of the world cup, he played in mexico! He did well for ecuador and then West ham bought him off the back of that. Once he got adjusted to the league he got worse, injuries meant he couldn't get himself back to the level he needed to play at.

Beattie had 4 good seasons at Southampton where he got into double figures each season. He was a useful player in the right system (ie one where he didnt have to move much...)

Saha was a tremendous talent he just had a mental block when it came to injuries. I dont think he ever trusted his body.

Its a fair point about where Valencia has came from but at the same time it needs remembering that Valencia was brought in by Allardyce and had a change of manager who changed the whole way they play.

I dont think Valencia is fantastic or anything, I just think he has the potential to be useful for us.

can't wait for everyone to get on the lads back the minute he does something wrong and then wonder why his confidence is awful
yerh maybe he'll be niasse mk2 but i'm atleast willing to give him a chance

no where near as bad as what people are making out, was linked with Chelsea are his first season with west ham, he's a striker who constantly got played on the wing to accommodate the other strikers. he's better than kone and niasse, he's only on loan so no biggy, chill out and give the lad a chance
An actual boulder is better at football than Niasse mate.

Apparently some hammer fans think he has the tensile strength of an empty crisp packet blowing around the pitch on a winter's day.

Sunderland will be a good test as they have a few bangers in their defence.

He might thrive in Koemans style of play or whats asked of him........sign him. He might not.........send him back. Koeman obviously sees something in him.

Think it's like shopping at a Garage at midnight on Xmas eve for a Xmas present the reason we saw something in him. The selection was very limited.
