I realise that I am in a minority, but I think this will prove to be a very good signing..

He is a far better player than some on here seem to believe, but at West Ham , everything just went sour for him.
That can happen with any player at any club.

A lot of us thought that Galloway would push Baines hard for a place this season and very few of us really considered Holgate, a new manager, a new perspective and there are winners and there are losers.
At West Ham, Valencia was a loser under Bilic, he chose to go a different way.
I think Valencia offers something very different to Lukaku, is at a good age, is settled into the Premiership and just two years ago was very highly rated.
He offers great pace, can score goals and has plenty to prove to people.

Seems a standard back-up striker signing. Doesn't look like we will be playing two up top, so unless we see Lukaku injured, we will probably only see him the odd cup game/last 10 mins.

In all honesty the lad only had one thing going for him. He was available for next to nowt with about 3 hours of the deadline to go.

For his height, he's very good with headers. Has scored some bangers at West Ham also.

But his record in PL is far from to be considered as okay. He's not even in double digits yet.

Koeman said a few weeks ago he wants his 'strikers' to get 7-10 goals each per-season. That being said obviously Rom will be expected to get more.

But if Valencia gets 7 for us this season as back-up (in the league) he's done well. I think he can, easily.
