Enner Valencia

Managed just 1 goal every 4.5 games in ecuador. Lukaku must be going white with the panic his position is under threat

Then again he's scored 16 in 29 caps for his country and scored 20 in one season in Mexico (I believe) heading into the World Cup.

When he's played as an out-and-out striker for West Ham is when he's scored. Rarely as effective when pushed out wide.

Gabbiadini and Perez probably wouldn't have scared Rom much either...

He's a desperate but low risk gamble. We'd obviously exhausted/missed out on all our targets and he was dragged in as we are screwed if Lukaku is out, or keeps not scoring.

There'll be low expectation on him and he's a loan so there's not much to sweat, that could play into the players hands if he's low on confidence as if he runs about and works hard at least then blues will give him a good reception.

We shouldn't have finished this window without at least one more quality player up front though.

"Trust Walsh and Koeman". The thing is, Walsh and Koeman didn't even want him, or they'd have made a bid before 9pm yesterday. It was a desperate signing, the fact it's on loan as well also seems to suggest that. If Walsh wanted him he'd have gone in for a permanent deal much earlier. We've shown ourselves up in the transfer market yet again. I think people should be looking a lot closer at our "negotiating" team
I'd imagine he was on their list, but not at the top. Which is the worry.

Either way, it can't be disputed that he's better than Kone. He really is

I mostly agree with these points.

Not sure we can hold Koeman and Walsh responsible for mass aggro today, more like the negotiating team.

And if we're honest, we needed a CF - were we going to get one better than Lukaku? Nope. Is he better than the others we have? If so, well he'll get his chance to prove it.

If they didn't want him they wouldn't have signed him. He may not of been at the top of our list, but he must have been on it and you don't know that we hadn't been speaking to them before yesterday, maybe West Ham only made the decision to let him go.

This isn't as bad as everyone seems to think. It's not the signing we wanted, obviously, but we didn't pay anything for him, and he's a backup striker which was a necessity. He's been used wrong and has something to prove so for 0 spend give him a chance off the bench.

It's like someone moving office jobs. They might have been crap where they were, but a new office, with a new manager and philosophy, new work mates.

Walsh has been with us for a few weeks, not long enough to build a profile for anyone (if he had to leave his black book at Leicester). We're playing better now than last year already so let him and Koeman do their thing and see who we need come Jan. Hopefully BK will be gone by then so things will actually cross the finish line earlier on, which is quite plausible if Walsh finds a few gems that aren't widely sought after because they're not a worldly name. Saves another Sissoko debacle of we're the only ones after someone on the quiet.

As long as the Manchester's don't draw, Enner could score the winner against Sunderland and he could take us to third! Haha

I think West Ham have been actively trying to move him on for ages because he is utter sludge. They've put an option to buy in there, thinking we might actually take it up at the end of the loan

Valencia is a decent player!

Seems to have gone off the boil at West Ham but the ability is there. No risk for us and a player who will be busting a gut to impress if he wants to stay on over here.

It was always going to be hard to get in a striker who was obviously going to be a back up for Lukaku.

I actually really like this signing.

He's been set to leave West Ham for weeks.

Leaves me to believe that we probably put out basic feelers but I'm not going to pretend he was first choice.

It seems whenever a deal is strike the selling club would then ask for more money because they know we are desperate. Like Bally said why don't the club make the move earlier in the window? We are supposed to be loaded right...so we put all eggs in one basket throughout the summer and when negotiations stall we panic and identify possible targets with a couple of days left in the window. I am disappointed with this window but sitting in 4th position would ease my concern, temporarily. Hopefully Koeman can get the best out of the players and whoever was in charge with the negotiation matters should be relieved from duty as he is inept and let our manager down big time.

I don't even know what to make of this signing. It just annoys me that we supposedly had all this money to spend all summer and yet we have resorted to taking West Hams 3rd/4th choice striker on loan.

I want to say maybe we should just trust Koeman on this one though? Maybe he feels Valencia still has a lot to prove? Maybe he feels a fresh start is exactly what he needs and that he'll be able to bring out the best of him under our new set up?

Remains to be seen, I'll certainly give him a chance but on the whole I'm not entirely happy with this signing given the circumstances.

How do you know we won't sign him after? I just think the deal we agreed is horrendously overpriced

He's one of the worst strikers in the league and surely he's only been brought in through desperation as all our young strikers look useless and anyone has to be better than niasse.

Complete waste of 1.5m personally

No, he isn't.
